Trump claims ex-intelligence chief Clapper admitted FBI spied on his campaign. That's false.
NBC "News" ^ | May 24, 2018 | by Jane C. Timm

President Donald Trump claimed Thursday that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper had admitted that the FBI spied on his presidential campaign, further escalating his attacks on the law enforcement and intelligence communities charged with probing possible collusion with Russia.

"Clapper has now admitted that there was Spying in my campaign," Trump tweeted, referring to an interview Clapper did Tuesday on ABC's "The View."

But that's false — Clapper did not say that. Responding to a direct question from one of the hosts, Joy Behar — "Was the FBI spying on Trump's campaign?" — Clapper said, "No, they were not."

He went on to explain that the purpose of the FBI's reported use of an informant, which is different from a "spy," was to determine what the Russians were doing.

Isn’t the difference between an “informant” and a “spy” just a matter of perspective?

One would never say “We had a spy in their campaign.”

Instead, one would say, “We had an informant on the inside.”

Literally the same exact thing.

If my competition sent someone to come work for me and inform on my activities to them I would refer to that person as a “spy”, not an informant.

The real reason was to get a low level dupe to have any interaction at all with someone related to Russia. This then could be used to get a FISA warrant. Then every communication this dupe had with anyone was free to be scooped up by our intelligence services. I do not think that the FBI/CIA cared what the low level guy knew or had to say. This is how they were able to use surveillance onTrump Tower. Stalinist, not American, methods.

Interesting ; so the Watergate burglars informants were merely trying to defend the honor of Maureen Dean.

Would make more sense if they were spying in Hillary's camp about the dossier contents.

Remember, Comey told Trump they weren't going to investigate the dossier cuz it would look like they were investigating Trump.

Which makes absolutely no sense at all.

Comey told the president 3 times...that he was not the target.

Well, obviously he was.

No, the burglars were needlessly trying to find electoral dirt on McGovern. Nixon was going to whip him without this un-ordered stunt.

The burglars have never been confirmed to have stolen the “hooker” book. But.. the democrats used the potential that it was in evidence to get Dean to “flip” on Nixon and spill a bunch of protected info that had to do with the cover up for the crimes committed by people not authorized or even known to be doing the burglary, but whom Nixon protected by covering it up. What he should have done was fired all of them, and refer them to the FBI for prosecution. He still would have won the election and held his office— the democrats would have had.... zip without the leakes.

Don’t forget that the so-named Deep Throat source for the WaPo writers was Mark Felt— the Associate Director of the FBI, who was leaking certain info to the WaPo, and increased his leaking once he was not named as Director of the FBI and William Ruckelshaus was. It was John Dean who, early on, protected Felt from being outed as a leaker, since Dean was trusted by Nixon. And Dean did all this so the drip drip would continue, because the democrats told him a potentially false ‘setup’ that Maureen Dean’s photo and “bio” was still in the book. Such was the Deep State and the Swamp of that day.

Synonyms of “Spy” according to Thesaurus.com:

agent
detective
informer
investigator
mole
operative
secret agent
secret service
undercover agent

“Informer” is the 3rd word down. NBC really must think people are stupid.

So basically Watergate happened because John Dean wanted to be Dudley Do-Right and rescue his Nell from having her honor besmirched.

Except Nell was a $2500-a-night hooker that Dean had fallen in love with, and had gotten to fall in love with him.
