Here's Why People Now Think 'American Idol' Is Racist(WUT?!)

"Good job at being racist and homophobic, American Idol." Those aren't my words, but they're the sentiments of plenty of fans after Sunday night's Disney-themed episode.

After last night's votes were tallied, four of the show's minority contestants found themselves in elimination contention. Ada Vox, a drag queen, Jurnee, an openly gay and black contestant, Michelle Sussett, an immigrant from Venezuela, and Dennis Lorenzo, an African-American male, received the least votes after their performances. Jurnee was the only one to escape elimination.

These four contestants were in the bottom because this is "Trump's America," according to some upset viewers.

Michelle made it that far because she has body and dance moves.

I like Dennis for the top group and I could have dropped any two to the white chicks pos the first black guy included.

Ada(m) deserves a soap opera. too much drama queen

The judges were the only thing saving the drag queen last week, so it’s no surprise he/she/it was shown the back door this week. But he likes back doors, so it’s a win win.

Every loser that lost should have.

I’m happy to say that for the first time ever, my favorite contestants -— Guitar Feather Boy, Maddie, Gabby, and Katie -— are still rolling. Usually by now any singer I like is gone. Maybe someone I like takes it this year.

No one should win. They should all be given participation awards.

That is true of this year’s The Voice, but not AI.

I’ve been watching it. I agree with your list. Went on twitter a while last night after the show. Is there anything more fun that getting a bunch of liberals wound up? Holy cow.... they were crazy last night.

That country music judge is not helping his career by kowtowing to the political correctness.

That’s the main drawback to this version of AI. Without another Simon Cowell, the judging has no edge to it. All the children are above average, to use a cliche. If I wasn’t such a fan of Katy Perry, I’d FF through all the judging.

LOL

If it wasn't for Idol, these freaks would have never made it this far.

Dennis Lorenzo is the exception, but the reunion last night with his baby that he didn't seem to recognize probably cost him more than his singing.

The freak drag queen, only made it this far BECAUSE it’s a drag queen.

This. We have been watching the show and it is patently obvious that they are not allowed to vote off anyone dark or other-oriented. The judges are forced contractually to save these ones regardless of talent.

Now that the decisions have mostly gone to the public voting, people don’t want the gay and the trans shoved down their throat. Pun intended.

Still the judges have that chance to save, so they must save the special ones.

It’s pathetic how PC the contest is. Having a different orientation is as important to success on AI as talent. Sob stories score; gay stories score higher.

I agree. Blacks only make up 12% of America yet are a far higher percentage of the contestants. Clearly racism.

And remember that “Ada” tried out as a Filipino boy named Adam many times and never made the show. But Ada Got right on! Tape up your cojones, boys! Success awaits!

At least Adam/Ada and Miss Venezuela didn’t make it through - it did give me hope. Even Clay Aiken didn’t think Adam/Ada wasn’t good enough. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/opinion-aiken-american-idol-ada-vox_us_5ae7769de4b055fd7fcebeaf

The first time I watched Idol was in Season 5. At that time there was an Idol website where people could post comments. A black contestant named Paris Bennett was voted off as #5. There were screams of “racism!” all over the Idol website, even though several white contestants had been voted off even earlier than Paris was; and even though, of the four winners at that time, two were black, so blacks were over-represented as winners.

Since then, it’s been the same every year. As soon as a gay or nonwhite is voted off, the screaming begins.

You can always tell that the judges are pushing the politically correct contestants to win. One year, when they opened it up for voting, every single male contestant was obviously gay. That was the year a black female, Candice Glover, won. The only reason she won is because voters had no nice-looking straight white male to vote for.

I figure the people who scream the loudest about this are probably people who only vote for gays and/or minorities and hate it when whites win. So why aren’t THEY called bigots?
