“...military-grade assault weapons...”

The military never used any AR15's, they issued M16's mfg with much better components than the myriad of AR clones available. Military grade firearms available (be prepared to open your wallet wide) that I am aware of are 1911A1, M1 Garand, M1A1 Carbine, but the M16 is not a retail or military surplus item.

My Remington .308 Bolt Action could have taken out everyone in the Restaurant from a distance.

Heck, a Pickup Truck driven into the Restaurant could do the same.

You Know what they say, nothing good happens at a Waffle House after 3AM.

One of the first anti-gun laws thrown out because it violated the 2nd amendment, in 1846..

Nunn v. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.)
243
, at
251
(1846)
.
“’The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed.’ The right of the whole
people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear
arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be
infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the
important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so
vitally necessary to the security of a free State.”

'"That starts with restricting widespread civilian access to military-grade assault weapons.”'

Yep, because the outcome would have been so different if a 12-gauge or 9mm pistol had been used (or countless other options for that matter)...

Idiot.

Nashville Mayor Briley calling for “common sense” controll.... Yes he also called for restrictions on “military grade weapons’.

Got the Democratic talking points...

I don’t think AR-15s are any more useful in these shootings than a lot of other weapons, maybe less so than some.

I agree. A lunatic armed with a Remington 870 with short deer barrel and bag of buckshot and deer slugs would probably be more deadly in these shootings than the guy with AR-15.

From the long suppressed 97th Congressional Report on THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS...(You will see why it is suppressed. Betcha can’t find a whole report)

https://olis.leg.state.or.us/.../CommitteeMeetingDo.../68101

“The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms therefore, is a right of the individual
citizen to privately posses and carry in a peaceful manner firearms and similar arms. Such
an “individual rights” interpretation is in full accord with the history of the right to keep
and bear arms, as previously discussed.”
***
“The conclusion is thus inescapable that the history, concept, and wording of the second
amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as well as its interpretation by every
major commentator and court in the first half-century after its ratification, indicates that what is protected is an individual right of a private citizen to own and carry firearms in a
peaceful manner. “

The Mayor of Nashville is on Fox News calling for more control of ‘weapons of war.’ Yet the weapons were seized from the murderer by the local police/sheriff after the FBI requested it. The FBI made the request because the murder had been arrested outside the White House last year. The local sheriff’s office seized the weapons from the murder and then, for reasons not stated, turned the 4 weapons over to the murderer’s father, who gave them back to the murderer.

I think the mayor needs to ask the local sheriff why they gave the weapons back to the murderer’s father so that he could regain access to them. Laws on the books were partly followed, Mr. Mayor....you need to find out why they weren’t completely followed rather than asking for new laws....that probably won’t be followed by local authorities.

The news meeting also had the brave young man who grabbed the AR-15 from the murderer when he ran out of ammunition in his first magazine and before he could reload. The naked murderer then fled. And for those keeping score, murderer is White, brave young man who intervened is Black.

Typical DEM thinking. Calling for closing the flood gates AFTER the dam has broke.

The suspect had been arrested last year for jumping the fence at the White House.

I guess military grade must mean a gun that is black, cuz we don’t get to buy fully automatic.

Well, to the assclowns on the other side, if it has a pistol grip and has “AR” or “AK” anywhere near it, it’s “military grade”.

The seem to think that all they have to do is pass a law, and they’re magically go away.

Again... Good luck with that.

This is my Right. Pretty much period.

What the world is crying out for, more than anything, is a basic understanding of what projectile weapons actually ARE.

They are not alive. They can do NOTHING unless some agency, most often a rather ignorant human being, acts upon the device, and causes it to discharge a high-velocity projectile, which is the agent that does the damage.

A basic course in the identification, proper means of carrying and/or storage, the feeding and grooming of the device, and most of all, the correct method of being able to frame an appropriate target, aiming with some degree of accuracy, with all respect for the potential the device carries, and responsible use of the device in every circumstance.

This responsibility may begin to be instituted in youth from about age twelve on up, and the ideal would be for every high school graduate to be competent in the handling of various kinds of sidearms, from pistols to rifles to shotguns. Guns, more than anything, need to be demystified, which takes away a great deal of their “power” to inspire fear, and in reducing that fear, greatly expand the potential for stifling the attempted massacres of otherwise defenseless human beings. “Gun-free” zones are nothing except target practice galleries for scofflaws that pay no attention to posted signs anyway.

A widespread acceptance of concealed carry puts a great deal of uncertainty in the life of a gunman with malice in heart, perhaps not enough to prevent every incident, but enough so that gun deaths would be cut by a factor of up to 90% of what now occurs.

Now, of curse, not everyone may be disabused of a superstitious dread of guns of any kind, and for these people, training in ways to avoid, evade, shelter in place, or even how to disable or neutralize the malicious shooter, should be offered as an alternative course. Also, those individuals should be required to have tattooed, somewhere on their bodies, their Social Security number and name, so the remains may be more quickly identified when the worst case scenario occurs.

This guy should be more concerned about the millions of “undocumented” old mil-surp bolt-action rifles that a moderately-skilled operator can use to drop him in his tracks at a quarter-mile.

If he were actually able to achieve his dream they’d be coming out of the woodwork.

These are NOT “military grade assault weapons.”

They are semi-automatic rifles, intended for the civilian market. They’ve been around for many decades. The talking turd James Cooper, whoever the hell he is, doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

According to the FBI, more people are killed with feet....that’s right, feet...every year than are killed by rifles of all kinds.

There was an episode of “Police Story” on TV a few weekends ago on the “Decades” channel. The cops were looking for a suspect with an AR-15. That episode was taped in either 1973 or 1974. A rare instance of a criminal using a semi-automatic rifle, although it was a TV show and not a real “incident.”

Keep it up, RATS....you’re going to lose MORE seats in November.
