A few weeks ago, the journalism watchdogs Democratic Party apparatchiks at Media Matters* organized a boycott against Laura Ingraham after she tweeted something snotty about Marjory Stoneman Douglas student David Hogg. She apologized for it, but Hogg didn't care and neither did his handlers at Media Matters. The grown-ups saw a perfect opportunity to take down one of their most hated enemies, and they had no problem using the kid as a human shield. That's who they are, and that's what they do.
It's not working, and I'm having trouble remembering the last time it did work. Jon Levine, The Wrap:
...In her return to the airwaves last week, [Ingraham] was up 25 percent in total viewers and 36 percent in the key 25-54 demo, compared to her averages for the first three months of the year.
She averaged 3,099,000 total viewers and 685,000 in the 25-54 demo...
The numbers suggest that rather than costing Ingraham viewers, the dispute over Hogg has drawn eyes to her show, which debuted in October.
Her ratings are better than ever. Fox News is standing by her. The advertisers will start coming back when the heat dies down. Same old story. Another failed liberal boycott.
I have a visceral dislike of boycotts no matter who's behind them, but Media Matters and their ilk sure do have a particular fondness for that tactic. Every time somebody on Fox News so much as farts, MMFA is ready with a list of advertisers. Now they're doing the same thing to Sean Hannity. Again.

I don't watch Hannity, and I'm ambivalent about the "bombshell" revelation that Michael Cohen is his lawyer. (That's assuming Cohen is telling the truth, which is not an assumption I ever make.) But whatever the case, Media Matters' reaction is always to boycott. They've done it to Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly... Hell, just make a list of all the people Michael Moore hates, and chances are they've been boycotted by Media Matters.
Lefties boycotted Chick-fil-A because one of their executives spoke out against gay marriage, and now the chicken sandwich chain just keeps expanding, even encroaching into liberal enclaves like Manhattan. Lefties boycotted the National Rifle Association after the Parkland shooting, and NRA membership went up. Lefties are currently boycotting the Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which, at press time, is still operational.
Why do these guys keep boycotting stuff? When are they going to figure out that it doesn't work? When will they realize that by attacking the very livelihood of their opponents, they only harden their opposition? When will they stop turning people like Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity into martyrs?
It didn't, BOR was just too toxic for FOX to keep him around anymore
because leftards are emotionalists and it makes them feel good about themselves inside. If it feels good it must be right.
IIRC, Target took a hit for a few months from ex-customers upset about its “choose your own bathroom” policy. Quite a few of us on FR talked about not shopping there. Their profits, and their stock were affected, but it seems to have been temporary.
Our choices do make a difference.
We are part of why the newspapers and leftist-run media is collapsing. We are part of why Facebook is losing subscribers left and right.
If only we could finish what we started... could you imagine ?
There are a lot of great creators on Youtube that I’m missing. But I won’t go there anymore.
There are a lot of conveniences that I don’t enjoy because I boycott Google.
There are a lot of friends and family saying fun things on facebook that I don’t get to be a part of. In fact, All have forgotten me and I’m pretty much in a gulag.
But today I went to buy some used goods from Craigslist and I found that the seller was also selling a youth bow and arrow set. I would love to share my sport with my kid, so I inquired about it. They told me that facebook wouldn’t allow the listing and took it down everytime they posted it because it was against their policy, and a weapon.
It’s either we all boycott these companies and services or they boycott us. And they are winning so far.
Liberal boycotts rarely have any effect. Conservative boycotts are far less frequent and we must actually buy stuff. Target is a good example.
I personally don’t buy from CITGO. Dick’s Sporting Goods is also on my list.
Glenn Beck is having to sell his airplane.
I think my ongoing boycott of Target has worked really well.
General Mills, too.
JC Penney tanked after it tried the “appeal to homosexuals” thing.
Boycotts work when it’s a retailer boycotting their customers, like Dick’s sporting goods, Gander outdoors,...etc.
Both boycotts and buycotts, when done by conservatives/Christians/patriots, have shown much greater rates of success than boycotts by leftists, pagans, and their ilk.
A boycott may not bankrupt a company or make them completely change, but it will hurt them.
As I said before, liberal boycotts usually fail because liberals don’t really have skin in the game.
They will never boycott Whole Foods because they actually shop there. They will announce a boycott of Cabela’s because liberals never actually go there so the boycott is without teeth.
Conservatives choose to no longer use the services of some companies, like Target. It’s not loud and proud, just financial.
The grocery store a half mile away is managed by a company that is rabidly anti 2nd Amendment. The Exec VP said he didn’t want the business of gun owners. We used to spend several hundred dollars a month there. Not anymore. We drive three miles to WalMart and Aldi
I boycotted HP products for more than 10 years and never bought one.
I also boycotted the NFL and never watched the Super Bowl. Who said boycotts never work?
I dunno, last I checked, both groups are still in business.
BTW, what did HP do wrong?
I think a boycott helped the demise of Builders Emporium in California. They came out with some anti-gun statement and word of that spread. The one time I went in after that, it was me and 15 floor people. They are long gone.
“I also boycotted the NFL and never watched the Super Bowl.”
Ditto here - I’m putting this one in the “ongoing and we shall see” column. Hoping for ultimate success...
I predict our boycott of Dick’s Sporting Goods is going to be wildly successful.
The Oscars, Grammys, ESPN, and NFL.
