U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested 97 people after raiding a Tennessee meat processing plant, in what civil rights activists say was the largest crackdown at a single place in almost a decade.
ICE spokeswoman Tammy Spicer announced the raid in a statement on Friday and said that of the 97 people taken into custody from Southeastern Provision meat processing plant in eastern Tennessee, 11 people were arrested on criminal charges, 54 were placed in detention and 32 were released.
She said they were all arrested on suspicion of being in the country illegally.

And every auto auction from PA to VA.
Going to them is like a Tijuana vacation, now.
Most of the smart ones that hire companies to supply workers have lawyers and more often than not have their Ts crossed and Is dotted.
By law employers can’t hire people without getting identification from them. They have to get picture id’s and ss#. If they don’t they are breaking the law. They have to take taxes out on them. Some workers can be 1099, but the employer still has to send the proper info to the govt telling how much money they paid them. The Trump administration , the IRS has been going after those without the proper ss# ect. The same ones Obama admin was turning a blind eye to.
Every employer I know of is required to get proof of citizenship when an employee is hired.
Nope, all they can ask is if they can legally work in the US.
I’m not to sure about the picture ID part. They have to show a SS card, but they can get fake ones on every street corner.
Liberals passed laws to make it easy for illegals to work and get welfare, and the bastards are voting too!
A government program success story similar to the "National Do Not Call List"
The answer is so simple even a gubment worker can understand the solution. As an employer I’m required to have an I-9 form on file for each and every employee. Fines up to 6500 per violation can be assessed. They don’t seem to have a problem with making a OSHA inspector available for every firm, what’s the difference with making an inspector available to walk into every HR department in the country and match I-9’s to employees? Law is already on the books, nothing need be done except enforcing it!!
I would agree, however if the illegals have a soc # and it doesn’t come back flagged the employer has to accept it. Not sure if they changed the way flagged numbers are handled, but 15 years ago the Soc Sec Admin had a rule stating, if a number came back as incorrect, you as the employer were not to fire the individual, your first recourse was to ask them to resubmit the number in case there was an error. Only after the new or corrected number is submitted and the government once again lets you know if theres an issue, can you as an employer act.
i wish Trump had started that enforcement on day 1.
The majority wouldve scurried back from whence they came AND more jobs would be available for Americans. A win-win.
