I have previously gone to the Google link and turned off everything. I went there today, again, and it shows no data and everything turned off.

Does that mean I believe that Google has none of this data on me? Good heavens no. Of course they have every last bit of data. It just means they are not showing ME what they have collected - that is all the configurations do - display what we have on you or not display - they collect and keep it all the same.

I never sign on to Google nor any other search provider so no problem.

I read but do not post on fb.

LinkedIn knows me but I IM people individually and don’t post information other than so generic as to be unintelligible to anyone who does not know me.

Anyone who does otherwise is an idiot.

I downloaded my Facebook data, how do I do google? I use gmail, and noted from the beginning that they DO run ads based on the content, not the addressee, of your emails.

I wonder of Google has the digital pics of my son when he was a baby and toddler? The hard drive I had them on crashed and I lost everything. I'd love to have them back!

Help me out, Google!

Ha. I told co-workers about Google in 2008 or perhaps very late 2007. They blew me off. You know, tinfoil and black helicopeters. Best part is, I never talk about black helicopters. Until Denver 2008 that is, LOL.

They read a little further in a news article and realized I was probably correct.

Still, no idea. Another believed all of Google’s money came from “ad revenue” - LOL.

It is interesting that even though the Big Data companies seem to be run by people on the Left (based on their current mania for censoring and banning conservatives), most of the high-profile opponents of surveillance capitalism (as it is called) seem to be on the Left. When I try to get people on the Right (especially anarcho-capitalist libertarians) interested in this topic, all I get is "They're a private company. They should be able to do ANYTHING they want!"

It dated back to 2008...

My cousin has a bum foot and he's been approved by the VA for a car with hand controls (not just the controls-the whole car). Anyway, somewhere along the approval process the VA demanded that he tell them who he sold cars to in 1972 and 1974! He'd forgotten he'd even owned the cars much less who he sold them to.

They know.

We should break up Google as a monopoly under anti-trust laws.
It controls 90%+ of the online ad market. That alone is reason enough.
It’s special relationship with Twitter is why they have both been colluding to hinder Gab.ai, the Twitter alternative. That is a separate crime.
Then there’s the fact no one online platform - Google, Facebook, Twitter - should be so big that their private business policies impact your RIGHTS. They control so much of the public square that the speech they actively censor is suppressed. Likewise how when Google decides it doesn’t like diet pills or guns, those businesses become invisible online.
