I have a 1956 Norman Rockwell print of a frumpy, sweet-faced teacher standing in front of a class of clean-scrubbed, straight-backed children. They had just written "Happy Birthday, Miss Jones!" on the blackboard for her. It's a scene light-years away from a 21st-century school massacre, and it may take some time for the more Pollyannaish among us to readjust to what the 21st-century school really is. This may explain the freak-out over the idea of arming teachers: Miss Jones with a Ruger tucked into her belt is just too hard to swallow.
This worries me, because we can't fix a problem we don't have the courage to really acknowledge. Our schoolrooms are still full of great kids, sweet-natured and teacher-loving, but these days, every class has an ever increasing number of students carrying major psychological damage. I'll never forget a class of freshmen I had one year. Of the 27 students in that section, nine were seriously mentally disturbed. I know a teacher who's trying to deal with a student who has already thrown rocks through the principal's office windows and is currently threatening to burn down the school with a flamethrower. He's six years old

And what happens when the postmodern moral compass of students fails? Some stats can give some insight. In the 1910s, there were only two reported incidents of violent attacks in U.S. schools, and one was actually an accident. In the 2010s, there were 126 such attacks. Students all over the country are attacking (with knives and guns) each other and their teachers at an increasing rate. The correlation is unsettling; something has gone wrong.
The "Great Society" hogwash gutted the concept of the American family. Religion is dying in America. And morality in America is dying as a result of both. Kids are taking their cues from celebrities, and the media is the enemy of the People. We are a society in decline by every possible measure.

You feed them Michelle Obama’s Dachau diet at lunchtime and inspect and reject lunches brought from home and send home some assaholic scolding note to the parent. Condoms are freely handed out to the kids with instruction sessions about anal sex. Abortions are cool and the school will sneak a girl away for one and hide it from the parents.
The list of abuses is 100 miles long.
Then one day they are amazed when one of their perfect products comes BACK to the imbecile factory and shoots the place up.
It would be funny if it wasn’t tragic.

Yep. And had Norman Rockwell painted the back of the classroom, you’d see .22 rifles in the corner. The teacher would have a little box of .22 in her desk. Thats what it was like circa 1955 in North Arkansas.
There were rifle clubs in some NYC schools of all places. My Dad’s alma mater, Columbus HS in daBronx, the basement below the gymansium was used as a shooting range. (I’m surprised Dumbass deBlahsio hasn’t tried to rename that school to soothe the fragile egos of the virtue signalling snowflakes but that’s beside the point. Better keep my big mouth shut or they’ll get more stupid ideas).

Often you read after a teacher has disciplined a child, the parents will show up at the school ready to fight the teacher. I’m afraid there is little hope for public school. We don’t have the nerve to separate the wheat from the chaff.
It's just a matter of time until it is somehow replaced...probably with some iteration of "virtual learning."
