President Trump said Friday that construction of his promised border wall would start "immediately" after signing the omnibus spending bill, which included $1.6 billion in funding for the wall.
"We're going to be starting work literally on Monday," Trump said during an event Friday at the White House. "We have a lot of money coming to the border."
Trump had threatened earlier Friday to veto the spending bill Congress passed on Thursday because it did not include sufficient funding for the wall and because it omitted expiring protections for young, undocumented immigrants.
So disappointing.
I have a ZOT ping list from when Darkwing104, Old Sarge and I handled it. It’s probably 4 years old or so and would need trimmed/updated. I’m not on FR often enough to manage the list.
I used to live at Free Republic. It was my go to source to keep me positive and working for the cause. Not so much anymore. Every time I visit, it’s more and more anti-Trump (as if Hillary wouldn’t have utterly destroyed the U.S.).
So disappointing.

( McConnell singlehandedly kept 80 judicial seat from being filled by Obama and after the vote Friday got 17 people confirmed. The man can do the job if he puts his mind to it. Just wish he’d do it more often)

What does the statement actually mean? Is he talking about the strictly limited repairs on existing wall or will they beginning construction of new wall? If it’s the former then this is a cynical statement meant to placate the base. He signed a bill that specifically prohibits any new wall construction so I do note he didn’t say new wall construction.

Agreed. It’s been nice to feel a bit HOPEFUL, but in all honesty, I’m still in Hunker Down Mode, will continue to strive for self-sufficiency where I can, and will continue to keep my powder dry! ;)
It shouldn’t take you written rules to be able to tell apart honest differences of opinion from someone who has barely posted in six years suddenly spamming over-the-top posts into the forum. It wasn’t just about content, but the history of the poster (or in this case, lack thereof). The poster had maybe 30 posts prior to his outbursts over the last two days. All the mods look at the big picture in that manner.

No doubt Pres. Trump has both a longer-term strategy as well as being a quick-responder to the unexpected. A poker player is no good without the ability to bluff as well as to come back from losses.
Not having the GOP or even parts of his whole staff on his side means the President must be enigmatic, even to his supporters.
The strings apply to the 1,6 billion in the bill. If Trump can use Defense/Homeland security funds already available, then the Monday Miricle will happen. We can tell if true by the kind of wall/fence he builds.

I think he could shove this all into Feinstein’s/Pelosi’s/Schumer’s/Ryan’s/McConnell’s face along with many others.

Fair point, by putting the prohibitive wall language in the bill Ryan and the rest of his GOPe losers have shown their hand. Not only are the against any wall but will aggressively fight it. So we are going to find out how committed President Trump is to it. As we knew a year ago if the wall is to be built he will have to go to guerrilla tactics to get it built. Why hasn’t more been made of the fact that these same bastards stripped out funding for more border enforcement people? So money for baby killers but not for ICE. I despise these f’ers.
Trump put a 5% tax on ALL $$$ transfers going out of the country —(I would have done 50%)—and there has been no mention about how much $$$ is building from that tax.
Does that fact make Fox an illegal intruder that also needs to be removed???
Seems to me that “Border Security” & “The Wall” go hand in hand. Cannot have one without the other.
