... The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected the last-ditch plea by Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich to uphold a 2012 executive order by then-Gov. Jan Brewer to deny drivers licenses to DACA recipients, an order current Gov. Doug Ducey has left in place.
The justices gave no reason for their ruling. ...
It was shortly after Obamas action that Brewer directed the Arizona Department of Transportation to deny licenses to DACA recipients.
She cited a 1996 Arizona law that says
state licenses are available only to those whose presence in this country is authorized by federal law.
Obviously, they trampled all over the Tenth Amendment, she said, citing the amendment that says powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
She called DACA an illegal Obama executive action that trumped states rights. ...
Brewer argued thatthe U.S. Department of Homeland Security has no legal authority to permit DACA recipients to remain and work.
... Brewer said Mondays ruling leaves two options going forward.
One is for Trump to rescind DACA, something the president has tried to do.
But those efforts have so far been blocked by a federal judge.
The Supreme Court has declined to intercede, meaning there will be no final decision before at least this fall.
The other, said Brewer, is for Congress to finally address the question, in statute, of whether DACA recipients should be allowed to stay.
That would not only make moot any questionof whether they are authorized to be here
but make it clear that they are entitled to the same rights and privileges, such as licenses, as other legal residents who are not citizens.

"I have a bad feeling in my gut that the 30 million wetbacks present here will eventually get citizenship and that no wall worth being called an effective barrier will be built." You're in good company with your pessimism. Ann Coulter recently said as much regarding the the wall "prototypes". She said it is all B.S. and a stall tactic. There's a lot of foot dragging going on. She said we don't need prototypes, we need a wall.

Poorly written article. There was no release of any SCOTUS ruling about drivers licensing. Was it a denial of certiorari?

The so called U.S. Surpreme Court sucks. Being issued an Arizona driver’s license IS NOT a right and the clowns at SCOTUS have no right or authority to decide this.

So now they have their ID to vote. I would love for somebody to do an investigation on Dreamers to see if they are voting. That is the worst part. We are so screwed.

So it won’t be heard. It means that Arizona couldn’t get four folks to say they wanted oral arguments
Always hard to read anything into that

"This state PREFERS illegals to citizens."
WRONG !
It's THE FEDERAL ESTABLISHMENT that
"PREFERS illegals to citizens." They WANT those ILLEGALS for DemocRAT voters, baby-sitters, cooks, gardeners, and even drug runners !
LIBERALS THINK they cannot live without them, even when those ILLEGALS are killing their children every day !

I can see this ruling on the DACA folks who followed the “rules” (unconstitutional by Obama but an official invite to the nation) but not for anyone else....”Dreamer” or not.

You ignore their silly rulings and then give clear Constitutional reasons why. Then let Congress impeach and put the whole thing on trial. Balls, we need balls.

I think Comment #22's map answers your question, unless you're talking about divisions between liberals, conservatives, and the thoughtless twits that Clinton and Obama put on the SCOTUS.

Note that certiorari was denied at the request of the US Solicitor General.
Since Pres. Trump tweeted disapproval of the DOJ’s action, that indicates that the DOJ is treating DACA as fixed law instead of it expiring.
Pretty tough for Sessions supporters to spin this.

Drivers licenses have been and always will be a PRIVILEGE and are conpletely under the sovereign ruling of a state to decide who’s eligible. There’s nothing federal about it.Funny. That lie is what we've now been told for years, and now that it is inconvenient for the powers that be, suddenly it's no longer true.
Anyone who buys into the concept of our God Given Right to Travel somehow being a revocable privilege completely misreads the entire concept of liberty. I'm not going to argue the issue, as the point is moot because the state will kill you for exercising your common law right to travel without their "permission". The power emanating from the barrel of a gun always trumps truth.

I wonder. Is AZ one of those few states that are not following the new national ID requirements for drivers’ licenses? If not, I don’t see how illegals can put together the appropriate valid documentation necessary to get a license. I wouldn’t have any great problem with them getting licenses, after all, if I were to go to Germany, I could get a license there if I wanted to, as a legal visitor so I could drive the Autobahn. However, the license should clearly indicate it is for a non-citizen.

It should have, in big red letters, "ILLEGAL ALIEN" stamped across the face of their drivers license.
