Wow. Even more than 30 years after his death, Elvis’s Memphis Mafia still has a long reach...
the king sort of resembles Captain Obvious in a less outlandish costume.
Punishing micro-aggressions has always been a royal prerogative, but every Tom, Dick and Harry wants in on it these days.
Cuando en España no insultes al rey.
.....demise of Francisco Franco ......

Still dead I see.
I first went to Spain in 1970 while Franco was still el caudillo. The country was just starting to begin to pull away from the austerity of the regime, but much of the atmosphere was rather bleak. Markers on virtually every road described some battle in the Civil War and wherever Franco had taken a crap.
Nevertheless, there was a theater on the Gran Vía in Madrid showing a drama by a well known Spanish dramatist, Buero Vallejo. It was entitled El sueño de la razón, The Sleep of Reason. Set in the early 19th century and featuring works from Goya’s dark period and the war of independence from France and Napoleon. It was an attack against tyranny and a very thinly disguised diatribe against Franco. That this play was performed in the capital was amazing to me as Franco had previously suppressed such criticism and dissent.
In any event, I suppose the takeaway is that you could get away with political criticism in Spain if it is somewhat subtle or disguised and not blatant.
The scumbag rapper wannabe cites U.S. Rappers in his defense. They should be thankful that I’m not king because they would be in jail too.........
We were in Madrid a year or so ago, I noticed a fancy photo of a man and woman on the wall of the hotel lobby, and I turn to my wife and wonder aloud why they’ve hung a portrait of Bashir Al-Assad of all people. A nearby stranger turned to me and suggested I be a bit more discreet, it’s a crime to insult the king...
They could use some 1A over there...
That would have happened here if anyuone did it while Zer0 was President
