Americans are spreading their book consumption across several formats, and the use of audiobooks is rising.
About three-quarters (74%) of Americans have read a book in the past 12 months in any format, a figure that has remained largely unchanged since 2012, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in January. Print books remain the most popular format for reading, with 67% of Americans having read a print book in the past year.
And while shares of print and e-book readers are similar to those from a survey conducted in 2016, there has been a modest but statistically significant increase in the share of Americans who read audiobooks, from 14% to 18%.

My favorite is “Risk Management.”
I listen to Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History podcasts when I’m working in the yard or driving long distances. For reading, I’ve split my consumption between books and my Kindle. The Kindle is nice for trips but I can navigate print books better.
My first audio book was “Cardinal of the Kremlin”. Zero time passed until it ended in the middle of Nevada. The second half of the trip was very, very, very long.
What happened to their reading skills?
Have you listened to S-Town?
The lady is 90 years old and mentally very sharp, but she has macular degeneration. At this point, she can plop on her couch with her dog, who is also old, lay down and listen.
Sad thing though is that her hearing is going too.
No, so far just all the episodes of “Froning and Friends.”
Don’t google it, too many spoilers out there now. But I loved it.
If the devise is blue-tooth capable, I highly recommend the AirPod earphones.
They are wireless. The sounds are amazing, bass to treble. The tone is very surprising. They are stereo. It’s sort of like having a hearing device in your ear and it won’t disturb others.
I love mine.
While they are $159.00, I’ve paid more for a simple single ear device in years past.
These recharge in about 15 minutes, and the little case is a recharger. It will recharge them about five times before the little case needs to be recharged.
You can use them, put them on the charger while you take a snack or bathroom break, and pick up right where you left off.
Is that the one whut has a Feets o' Snakes?
Yep, I did one of the games of Thrones books on a round trip from Boston to Chicago.
Great...
You are hilarious.
LOL
I didnt Isualize that error.
The first and so far only one was Atlas Shrugged.
I like XM148, a lot of the OTR shows are still good.
I’d love both Burke books, Connections (1) and The Day The Universe Changed if read by the author.
I do audiobooks on long solo drives. Never any other times though.
Bookmarked. Thank you!
