Fail them all.
Why should my tax dollars be used to pay for a political protest?
Let the democRAT party have to pay for the logistics involved and force them to have their little protest on a Saturday
Oh wait, no kids would show up on a Saturday
Kids like cutting class, this is just a reason to cut class. The liberals will use this as “look the kids hate Trump” moment.
Sucks when they own and control the schools though their unions.
How come they are worried about violating the student’s First Amendent rights but not their Second ???
Who really worries about the First Amendment rights of a bunch of teenagers? They are hormone-charged idiots. If they walk out, give them an unexcused absence for the day.
It's already started in Florida.
And with a republican legislature and a republican governor no less.
Can we get some clear thinking adults in office the next round of elections?
Schools are NOT political action centers. PERIOD.
Any school administration that refuses to punish this or, worse, encourages this needs to have their boards dissolved and the school officials fired IMMEDIATELY.
Zero tolerance here.
Of course these same administrators would punish walk outs for pro-life or pro-Trump or even pro-America marches.
Do NOT let the school systems get away with this.
These fake protests will stop as soon as someone stops paying them to do so.
If it is a first amendment right to walk out then how can you ever keep them in?
These kids are not walking out to protest, they are walking out to get a day off and out of class! They could care less about politics. Are there any adults running these schools who understand this!
Baltimore taxpayers are providing a free bus trip to DC, free lunch, and free T-shirt. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-city/bs-md-ci-pugh-gun-control-buses-20180308-story.html
This entire demonstration, organized by the government educational system, is a cover up for their failure.
Mine is assigning 20 hours of community service to kids that walk out.
Snowflake exodus.
Keep the doors locked and watch when they decide to try to come back to school.
We had this crap going on during the May Day "day without a mexican" a few years ago. Flyers all over the place and hundreds of student skipped class. About 5 participated in an organized protest. The rest were bragging about going up to the river for the day.
They should not be allowed first amendment rights until age 21.
The only “balancing act” is how much the school administrators should be publicly flogged if they allow, much less encourage, such a walkout.
Our school district issued a statement that “there will be NO disruption of classes tolerated. Any student who chooses to leave any class will be immediately suspended for three days. No exceptions”.
Then again, in OUR schools, the kids are taught manners and respect for their elders. They are also taught that Christ is our savior and that He is the reason why we celebrate Christmas.
We will not tolerate any of that PC bullschiff in our schools.
Baloney! This is what they've been indoctrinating them for for decades.
There are School/Student relationships and Parent/Child relationships. It’s the Rules vs. Rights within each relationship that people must acknowledge and understand if we are to have a Rules of Law in our society. Otherwise the Law of the Jungle will prevail and we live like heathens.
In the School/Student relationship the schools make the rules. Kids (minors) do not have the rights to make the rules for the schools. The school must be the governing authority to which the student is subject while at school.
In the Parent/Child relationship the parent(s) make the rules. Kids (minors) do not have the rights to make their rules until they are adults. The parent(s) must be the governing authority to which the children are subject while at home.
By becoming an adult, a child acquires the rights to be an authority and make the rules they live under. Until then, they have no rights as such in both the relationships given above.
So, the question is: do students have the right to disobey the rules and reject authority. The answer is YES if they are willing to pay the price for breaking the rules. If they are not, the answer is NO.
For schools and parents who let their minors decide “for themselves” there will be unintended consequences and collateral damage to those relationships. For our society to function there must be rules, relationships, and boundaries. Sometimes it seems like the adults have left the room and the children unsupervised.
When I was a kid and I skipped school: If I was a first-time offender, the school only threatened me with disciplinary action (after school stuff), then gave me a note to take home for my parents to read, sign and return. At home I usually got a good verbal (sometimes a$$) whipping and some additional chores around the house for a period of time. Then they signed the note and I returned it next school day. I think along the way my free speech rights, cruel and unusual punishment, and double jeopardy rights were violated. But I was a kid, I didn’t have a lawyer on retainer to defend myself.
Note to Snowflakes: Yes, a$$ whippings and other atrocities of life did occur back then - from childhood into adulthood you could expect them. There were No SAFE zones and psychological help wasn’t available. If you sassed your parents, principle/teacher, neighbor, bookie, loan shark, union enforcer, MAFIA don, Irish hooligan buddys, and list goes on, you could expect to get your a$$ whipped. And you learned not to mess with nuns either. So, as we say in Texas - STAY FRIENDLY - cause the guy next to you might be carrying a can of a$$-whoop.
Here they are protesting something rare and will not likely affect them.
Why arent they protesting endless wars around the world that will kill one or two members of their class over the next ten years?
They dont know what is important to them.
