Link to spreadsheet only: Who Voted For The Florida Gun Bill
(Excerpt) Read more at docs.google.com ...
“Florida is filling up with blue state refugees and Democrat leaning Hispanics.” Do you mean the Hispanics that now approve of Trump at 38% and growing? Or some other Hispanics. BTW the Puerto Ricans are starting to go home.
So you are saying, we need to toss a good and decent sitting Governor under the bus and keep Nelson who is senile, craven, a lapdog for EVERY democrat initiative, votes in lockstep with Chucklies the racist ?
Scott will clearly win the nomination for the GOP to run against Nelson.
How often do you guys practice in the circular firing squad ?
Scott's not perfect, and in an increasingly blue state he has to move toward the center.
Even on his worst day, he is mountains better than Nelson.
Do not for one second think that I am rationalizing, accepting, or even tolerating what Floriduh has done. I am only ensuring accuracy.
The Florida senators said they got severe arm-twisting from the Republican leadership.
Now typically, when forced to do something like that, legislators, even congressmen, will insert a “poison pill” into the legislation, to insure that it is overturned by the courts. Thus they can claim they voted for it, but prevent the bad law from going into effect. “Those darned judges.”
Im just as upset at this, but lets get the facts straight...yes, it infringes (IMO) on the 2A (age restriction - hence the NRA Suit), and the disregard for due process is unacceptable. However, an 18 y/o can still possess a firearm, be given a firearm, and there are many exemptions (CCW, hunting license, fire arms safety course, Military, etc.) to the age restriction. Also, the bill provides for school personnel who wish to be armed, to be so, with a policy approved by local school board and if they are properly trained, vetted, etc. Admittedly, this is a horrible bill and a knee-jerk emotional reaction that the vast majority of FL House members spoke out about their dislike for the bill. IMO, Gov Scott should have vetoed and sent it back to the Legislature to deal with it as logical, rational, adults, even if it took a special sesssion to do so (apparently one of the reasons this bill was rushed was because the legislators and Governor didnt want to extend the session). If the Legislature overrode his veto, so be it. Perhaps the Legislature should also be restricted in their actions with a waiting period on legislation that deals with emotional issues so we, as law abiding citizens that did nothing wrong, dont get penalized and our rights trampled.
Florida’s already purple. The influx of northerners from New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and California is bringing liberal groupthink into our great state. Scott says his hand is being forced by the actions of a single psychopath. So the rest of the Florida electorate can go to Hell, we must appease the pabulum-puking liberals of Broward county.
*spit*
I wish we had a better Republican offering for US Senate, because Scott’s left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
It's been that way for two decades. It's was even worse when Chiles was in.
Florida voters didn't want the gun bill... stupid, reactive, pandering pols did.
“””” I am beginning to think that the republican establishment wants to lose so they can blame Trump and have the democrats keep the Trump/Russia BS alive”””””
You are right. It is what losers do and they are well experienced at it.
“Florida is filling up with blue state refugees and Democrat leaning Hispanics. As you say, its only a matter of time.”
Tens of thousands of Puerto Ricans are “moving” to Florida following the hurricane, they are US Citizens by law, and are entitled to vote. That’s what is turning FL blue.
If it fires up the base to primary some folks first, that is.
I think the NRA stands a pretty good chance of winning their lawsuit.
Sorry we don't need another McCain or a fake Charlie Crist type Republican in the Senate. I absolutely despise Nelson and would never vote for him.
But I despise lying two faced spineless cowards like Scott even more. I will do everything in my power to see that Scott loses. I will donate as much time, money and effort as I can to any real patriot who runs against Scott in the primary but know this: Scott will never get my vote again.
And it breaks my heart to say that because I was huge supporter (both in time and money) of Scott, especially when he was running against Sink and was being savaged by the RINO Republicans like former Florida Congressman Lou Frey who actually implied he would be voting for Sink rather Scott.
I survived 8 years of Obama so I can certainly survive another Nelson term. Scott betrayed us and will certainly do it again in the Senate. Don't want Nelson again? Suggest you start looking for someone to run against Scott in the primary.
Scott's not perfect, and in an increasingly blue state he has to move toward the center.
Center=Loser. To paraphrase Rush when Republicans run as real conservatives they win. When they run as moderates they generally lose. Scott will lose and he'll end up being known as the best campaign manager for Nelson that he could hope for.
I heard about the arm twisting as well. Interesting theory about the "poison pill". NRA has already taken it court. We'll see how it plays out. Hope you're right but it's a politically dangerous game they're playing if true.
The very vocal minority in this state made this happen. Scott’s playing the optics game as well. He’s running against Bill Nelson in the midterms, and he wants to appeal to the highest number of voters.
There, fixed it for you.
Why don't he just play the leader game.
Stand up for your principles and fight for them, and you'll not only retain your base of support, you'll also demoralize the opposition and pick up independent voters as well.
Instead, Scott is simply pulling a Schwarzenegger. He's playing the old discredited game of reaching out but he's only depressing his turnout and the Left will never vote for him anyway.
There's a lot of moderate Republicans in CA, right? Wrong. Because of moderate Republicans, CA is completely owned by Dems.
SHAME ON THOSE AR 15S
FOR WHAT HAPPENED AT THE PARKSIDE SCHOOL
BLAME GUNS
NOT
PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT POLICIES FAILURES THEY
MUST BE HIDDEN
The inability to counter this perverted (they call progressive) agenda created by the democratic party ( in name only) has its goose stepping adherents in the media left make it up as guns and the NRA garbage through their swill mills. When it should be contested by GOP state and federal legislators who should be demanding investigative hearings exposing policy failures
DONT MENTION THIS
Besides examining the conduct ( cops told not to enter other dept called and does those cops disciplined because they did) and arrangements of the Broward County Sheriff’s Dept made with this school district performance failures due to policy. A dramatic reduction in disciplinary incidents at Parkside were reported after the selection of Obamas Chicago friend as school superintendent occurred which was publicly acclaimed.
Because that school district was receiving large grant money from Obamas Attorney General because of those results. That many critics claimed encouraged criminal activity. Which should require Trump Administration US Attorney General beside find out why when the FBI knew that Cruz who should not been able to purchase weapons did. And review these grant programs instituted by the previous Obama administration.

If you think Scott is another McCain or Crist, there is no convincing you from your delusion..
Scott have been a pretty good governor. He did great handling the hurricanes. I have not seen him make too many mis-steps during his two terms.
If Scott is the GOP nominee, not voting for him is like voting for Nelson
Let’s hope we win several senate seats so Nelson is not the deciding vote on Trumps agenda if he retains his seat.
It could happen....
