I'm not a resident of FL, so I'm not up to speed on all of the local politics of this, but I'm thinking Scott was placed in a no-win situation ("b-b-but SOMEBODY has to do SOMETHING!!!) and did the best he could with it.

I think the NRA stands a pretty good chance of winning their lawsuit.

The very vocal minority in this state made this happen. Scott’s playing the optics game as well. He’s running against Bill Nelson in the midterms, and he wants to appeal to the highest number of voters.
