How the NRA beat the kids, again
CNN ^ | February 27, 2018 | Chris Cillizza

This time, we were told, it would be different.

The murders of 17 people at Stoneman Douglas High School 13 days ago was the latest in a long line of school shootings that began nearly 20 years ago at Columbine High School in Colorado. But, unlike almost all of the mass casualty shootings that have followed in those last two decades, the students of Stoneman Douglas were speaking out about what happened in their school. They were demanding politicians act -- and not taking "no" for an answer.

Then Congress came back to Washington on Monday. And man oh man, did it look like the same old script on gun legislation.

The House quickly made clear that they had already passed legislation to strengthen the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) late last year and that the ball was, therefore, in the Senate's court. (The "Fix NICS," um, fix in the House was paired with a measure supported by gun rights advocates that would allow people with concealed carry permits in one state to keep their guns concealed when they cross state lines.)

They should be protesting outside the Broward Sheriff’s office.

And the School Board's office.

This is not over yet. Gov Scott and other Gov’s are looking to push through gun control laws in their states, and rights infringed by the states will effect many millions of people. The left will also continue to push their anti-gun, anti-NRA agenda through the election, where the real dividends are paid. Once the Dems and “moderate republicans” pass “sensible gun control laws”, do you really believe DJT will veto it? The battle, let alone the war, is far from won (or lost).

Has an NRA member ever gone on a killing spree?

In 1987 in Palm Bay, FL there was a guy named William Cruse who killed 4 people, including 2 police officers, and wounded a dozen more. He holed up in a Winn-Dixie with a hostage for hours. Local radio and TV covered it. They went on and on and on saying, "We don't know much about Cruse except that he's an NRA member". This went on for hours.

He finally let the hostage go and gave up. Later it was found out that he was NOT an NRA member.

“If they had known all of the details, there is no way the anti-gunners would have chosen this field to fight their battle. But they couldn’t know, because they fully committed in the first thirty minutes. That’s the problem with rapid-reaction plans; they are by their nature generic, and they can’t be adapted to the situation.”

If you haven’t read the history of the first few months of WW I, that’s just what happened then.

There’s an investigation going on now — something Pam Bondi is involved in. I really hope the investigation will encompass the students’ behavior and their treatment of Cruz — and other “uncool” kids.

Any investigation won’t be complete unless EVERY component is looked in to. Until bullying is published as a cause in these incidents, the brats never will stop. The Parkland students need to be listed in an official document as contributing to the disaster if they did torment this kid by bulling, ridicule, etc.

I don't know if he was bullied though some have alluded to it.

Not an excuse if he was bullied, of course, but a contributing factor.

The "Cool Kids" can be horribly cruel and driven more than a few to suicide.

Can't imagine how it still goes on.

Anyhow, this whole thing stinks to high Heaven and now these little "skulls full of mush" are being used as leftist tools to blame guns, the NRA and Pres. Trump to distract from those truly culpable.

Hmm...looks like the Soros money ran out. I doubt the media hate-storm is over, but if they hoped for enough shrieking to accomplish immediate capitulation they were doomed to disappointment from the start.

This was a nasty one. It isn't over but it's run out of steam. And as I said to a certain liberal friend, here we have the urban Dems attempting to recapture the support of the working class for the midterms by a media saturation campaign calling them names and threatening to take their guns. What could go wrong?

Oh, and BTW, Trump's approval rating is at 50%. Believe the polls or not (I don't), that and this issue are causing some real screams of disbelief in the media. "What do you mean we don't run the country?" Yep.

Over 500 drug overdoses in Broward
county in 2016. The real killer of
school aged children. These kids
should be yelling at Congress to
get the wall built.
