he police officer assigned to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School resigned Thursday, under investigation for failing the enter the building as a gunman opened fire and killed 17 people.
Sheriff Scott Israel said Deputy Scot Peterson should have “went in. Addressed the killer. Killed the killer.”
Peterson, 54, came under scrutiny after 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz entered the school with an AR-15 rifle and killed 14 students and three educators on Valentine’s Day.

This is more wrong from the national media: They are burying the lede: He is RETIRING with a taxpayer funded lifetime pension. For a bald faced act of COWARDICE. And the national media isn’t mentioning it. This should be THE LEDE!!!

I don’t think so. The SRO resigned, likely after he was told either that or be fired.
It seems pretty clear, the SRO quickly became a coward when the s**t hit the fan.
Apparently it’s not so outlandish to think of having people with guns on campus to protect the kids after all.......
Supposedly they have surveillance video of the guy standing right outside the building where the shooting occurred while it was occurring.....
Reports coming out - he was “handing a matter with a female student”, then took up a position OUTSIDE the building WHILE THE SHOOTING WAS GOING ON, did not enter the building.
A school resource officer from another school who ran toward the gunfire ran past the cop who was taking shelter behind a concrete post outside the building.
People died because the cop didn’t do his job.
He called it “fake news”.
He clarified that today - HIS AGENCY (alone) was ONLY contacted 23 times.

The buildings are less than ten acres so he wasn’t that far away if at another end of buildings area plus he had an ez go
Most SRO guys are up front in my experience thoug some act as errand people for front office and some patrol the halls
Once I read further info, it became apparent that Deputy Dog was right outside, not on the other side of the bleachers.
What possible reason could there be for pushing out video surveillance on a 20-minute delay?
I’m betting it was someone’s PC related reason, privacy....or on lawyer’s orders, like to review it first.

the Sheriff should resign as well.. or be fired. He seems more intent on shining his pretty stars on his shirt than admitting his gang can’t shoot straight much less at all.
