Sen. Pat Roberts: Nobody under 21 should have an AR-15 [GOPe]

TOPEKA Sen. Pat Roberts supports placing an age restriction on the rifle that was used in a Florida school shooting where 17 people died.

The Kansas Republican said he believes Congress is ready to act and expects President Donald Trump to take the lead.

"This is an opportunity, if you look at these youngsters who are so emotionally tied in to this grief of losing their friends — but it’s more than gun control. But I think we’re ready as a Congress to actually pass something and I think it’s going to be better background checks. Certainly nobody under 21 should have an AR-15," Roberts told reporters at the Kansas Statehouse.

"I don’t know why anybody would want an AR-15 unless they’re going to take one out on the shooting range."

The call for an age restriction may place Roberts in tension with the National Rifle Association.

... What he’s saying is that people below the age of 21 are second-class citizens.

I certainly hope they understand this.

Nobody under the age of 21 should have free speech rights, right Pat.

Idiot.

I find it interesting that you can join the military at age 17, and be given a weapon and training, but at 17 you can’t join a police force. Different states have different age requirements for becoming a police/peace officer.

And their desire to mass murder will stop when they reach 21?

That is the theory. In practice if a state allows under 21 drinking they will be threatened with loss of federal highway funding.

Feds use federal funding like a hammer to get states to conform.

.
Being a police officer requires some level of understanding of human nature.

Being an infantryman requires the ability to carry a pack and shoot straight.

“If it’s an AR-15, shouldn’t it be 15 and over?”

I agree totally. M-14’s should be available to 14 year olds.

M-1’s should be issued at birth.

19ll’s should be issued to anyone born after 1911.

Those that want to fix what is wrong, rather than just complaining about it would definitely want to get educated.

If you’re going to tell me about human sacrifice in the Vatican, that’s not what one would call “education.”

Is a difficult issue for me, but I wouldn't hand a loaded Glock to a baby.

This narcissist selfie-generation cannot tolerate getting their feelings hurt. THEY'RE A BUNCH OF BABIES, and babies shouldn't have FIREARMS!

Spoke with his office. Sounds like they are getting beat up. Advised military carries this weapon, many under 21. Also pointed out that the 2nd Amendment doens’t have anything to do with going to the range or hunting, since he seems confused on that issue. Also called Moran’s office and advised I expect he won’t be as stupid as Roberts on a fundamental right.

I don’t really remember you, so I can’t say for sure, but it looks to me like Catholic bashing. Religious bigotry just ain’t my bag, man. /sammydavis

Unfortunately the President seems to agree with him.

If 18 year olds aren’t adults, take away their votes please, that will do a lot more good for society.
