One Pennsylvania resident has been called to perform his civic duty a few years earlier than expected.
I got summoned to jury duty, Luke says, with an unmistakable curiosity. Im only 11, so I didnt think Id ever get it.
Luke was ordered to show up at the Chester County Courthouse on March 28 for jury selection.
Lukes mom, Jeanette Fox, went online and later called the county to alert them about the error.
The summons came with two pages of instructions and dress code recommendations, in addition to instructions that he bring a magazine to read and even where to park his car, if he had one.
Luke wanted to serve as he thought a jurors work sounded interesting. Plus, hed be off from school.
They sit during the court case and listen to both sides of the story and they go into the back room, discuss it and take a vote on if the person is guilty or not, he reasoned.
A Chester County spokeswoman said nobody was available for an interview but told Eyewitness, if minors receive a summons, they should check off the box requesting an exemption.
On the page of disqualifications, there actually isnt a check box for a minor, only for student or hardship.
The error was eventually fixed, but Fox says her son was excited to go.
I think he wouldve done a great job, she said. I would have worried more about the content he was hearing.
Late Tuesday afternoon, Chester County sent Eyewitness News an explanation, saying the issue began with a state-provided list that included names of minors.
Sources in other Pennsylvania county governments say such lists are drawn from drivers licenses and voter databases, so its unclear how any of this happened.
I just got home from jury duty today. The judge came out and said that the defendant, “Saw the light,” and went ahead and plead guilty on a domestic abuse case.
While waiting with the other potential jurors, I educated some about gun laws and other fun stuff. Like how concealed carriers have been able to carry in schools for the last 20-plus years with hardly any incidents.
You mean like the racist assholes who were the jury at the Kate Steinle case?
The ‘rats probably have him registered to vote.
Some states figured out that many don’t register to vote because they don’t want to be called for jury duty.
Now they also call everyone licensed to drive a car.
Each FEDERAL Court is apparently allowed to make their own rules.
Or the Illegal Alien who killed Kate Steinle.
Jury nullification is a fun topic in that venue...
Especially if you query the Judge about it...
I did mention it to my Son last night.
If I were to be selected for a firearms related trial where jury nullification would be in order, I’d be in heaven.
That's only because he wants to take over the world...
One bark for not guilty, two barks for guilty.

Whatever the number is, I bet they are trending democrap.
There's your problem, leftover false registrations from the Hillary campaign's last ditch effort to fake enough votes to swing PA.
Hey, liberals want kids to vote, why did they possibly excuse him from jury duty.
Kid should show up with an NRA magazine.
Citizen in the Community Merit Badge time.
The 11yo probably knows more about the duty of jurors than the adults do.
Probably better able to think rationally. As well.
Why is this getting any attention at all. It was a mistake. Duh...
“Senior or Junior ,my father and brother get this mix up all the time ,LOL”
When growing up there were three of us in the county with the exact same names. Myself and two people I wasn’t related to, they were a Sr and Jr.
Imagine my surprise when, at age 15, I got a bill from the hospital for maternity charges!
My parents were not amused.
To make matters worse my wife’s first name was the same as Sr’s wife.
I’m still dealing with the situation because Jr moved back to the county and has a habit of not paying his county taxes.
I have to go there next week and again inform the idiots at the county treasurers office that I haven’t lived in that county in ten years.
Oy Vey!!
Defense Atty, would have objected outright had he showed up in his Scout uni.
Is he registered to vote?
It says they pull the jury duty lists from registered voters & those with driver licenses. Obviously, SOMEBODY has used this kid’s identity. No doubt for fraudulent purposes.
I call BS. I suspect someone used this kid's name and address to register to vote, instead of his own. Probably because said person was not eligible to vote.
