Divorce, drugs, drinking: Billy Graham’s children and their absent father
WaCompost ^ | 2/21/2018 | William Martin

Acquaintances from the early years remember that the Graham youngsters were less than models of decorum in their behavior at church and other public gatherings, but Ruth did her best to exercise a rather stern and consistent discipline at home. She claimed to have obtained some of her most effective child-rearing techniques from a dog-training manual whose directives included keeping commands simple and at a minimum, seeing to it that they were obeyed, rewarding obedience with praise and being consistent.

Three of the five Graham children have divorced. Ruth was the first. When she discovered that her husband had been engaged in a long-running affair, she was devastated. “At first I resorted to my familiar pattern of denial — covering over my hurt with spiritual platitudes. I prayed. I fasted. I forgave. I claimed Bible promises. I did all I’d been taught to do. I also hid my problems from everyone, humiliated that others — especially my family — would find out.”

We are taught and we know humans are fallible. We are born mistake makers.
How are we supposed to be perfect in selection of a spouse? Especially at the youthful age when the choice is made.

30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? 31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

This is one of the most disgusting, pathetic articles I have ever read. The WP is the devils work for sure. They are lower than whale shit on the bottom of the ocean. I don’t know how or when but GOD will not let this pass.

Jeff Bezos is the Egg-headed Dr. Evil of our time. Make him richer / more politically powerful (Amazon) at your peril.

The Grahams must have withstood every imaginable temptation.

The Amish have a tradition called Rumspringa. It means "running around". When Amish kids are 15 or so they are encouraged to leave the Amish lifestyle and go out into the world. The idea is that before they commit to baptism and formally becoming full Amish, that they must see what it is that they are giving up.

So they go out. And do pretty much indulge in almost every vice there is. They drink. They smoke. They have sex. They even *gasp* watch television and play video games and buy cars!

Yet the vast majority of Amish kids, after witnessing the outside world, chooose to return and be baptized into the Amish church. In recent decades the percentage of Amish youth who fully commit to the Church has increased, not gone down.

Often you cannot appreciate and be thankful for the light without first seeing the darkness.

I don’t care what it is, if you keep pushing it into a corner long enough it will eventually turn on you and do its level best to kill you.

Keep that in mind, Liberals.

They don’t even give us 24 hours before airing dirty laundry they have compiled on the Graham family???

This "laundry" is probably 95% manufactured. They give simple anecdotes that possibly were revealed somewhere else (for example, about his daughter seeing airplanes and saying "bye daddy!" and then add their own spin and editorial about abandonment, heartbreak etc....

WaPo are doing the cynical, destructive work of satan.

I read about what they write just for daily humor; don’t believe a thing they or the rest of the lame stream media say.

Please put the WaPo on the “to be droned” list. They’ve earned it.

It’s entirely possible that some or all of the criticisms are true. (I will not click on this WaPoo article. They are scum.)

It’s also probably true that some of the things they are saying about Trump are true. Obviously he’s been divorced twice.

The point of my post (but not of the WaPoo article) is that even the best of us have sinned. Let’s not judge our fellow man on the basis of his mistakes, but rather on the basis of what he dedicated his life to. Let’s look at what he accomplished. We don’t have to ignore his failings, but let’s not put them under a microscope and focus all our attention on them as if they defined him.

RIP, Rev. Graham. Your work here is finished. God has called you home.

So the Compost issues this hit piece on Billy Graham after he dies? Very low blow.

I wouldn’t even use the Compost to house train my dog.

Wondered how long it would take

It was probably written a few years ago when the Rev. Billy Graham first became ill in the archives of post death articles.

They had to have had this ready and waiting for this day.

Yup. All news organizations have an Obit File of pre-written obituaries that they keep updated and ready to go on just about all famous people. That way they can react quickly when one of them dies.

The WaPo has apparently had this piece of slime waiting in the file for at least a quarter-century.

Not something they should have published on the day he died.

Many successful people have unhappy children, but that shouldn't overshadow their achievements.

Certainly not before the family's had time to grieve.

I would think that even liberals would be upset at the timing of this OBVIOUS HIT PIECE.

Better take a lesson on these (^%*^$$%$**) POS. They are as low as any ISIS. I held out with actually being around the very last vestige of liberals thru my inlaws. After the election & their anger I refuse to be around them anymore. Now I"m 100% liberal free. BTW - sure feels good.

Darkness hates the light!

God has no grandchildren only children. All we as parents can do is teach our children right, love and nurture them but they will go their own ways and in the end, we pray to be the best role models humanly possible.

May God Bless that family as they grieve for the loss of their father and grandfather and may He forgive the sins of others who chose this time of mourning to attempt to tear down a simple man for doing what he was able to do to share his faith with countless others, many of whom would still be lost today, were it not for his sacrifices of time and god given sacrifices to be His cheerleader!
