Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway on Monday urged the National Rifle Association to move its upcoming annual convention elsewhere in light of last week’s mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Mr. Caraway, who represents District 4 on the Dallas City Council, told reporters Monday that the NRA would be “met with opposition” if it continues with its annual meeting of members event, scheduled for May 3-6 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

“There will be marches and demonstrations should they come to Dallas,” Mr. Caraway said, local ABC affiliate WFAA reported.

This coming from a Texan. Simply amazing.

Dwaine Caraway, mayor of Dallas, is not a Texan. He's a Democrat.

FWIW, the NRA has told him to go away. Link here. Warning, video auto starts. May want to turn down your speakers.

In my opinion, the way to deal with all RAT Liberal politicians is to dig their dirt, expose their dirt, and demand their resignation and/or indictments. As history will show, 98% are dirty in some way or many ways. Follow the money, bribes, sexual indiscretions, corruption, etc.

Until our side climbs in the RAT sewer and fights them using their tactics back on them, we will continue to be on defense, IMO.

Comments anyone?

Trumps been teaching them but it's only been a year trying to teach cowards how to fight.....they had to get use to the fact things have changed and there's a new sheriff to teach them what they don't want to learn........those resigning in Congress etc are cowards.

“Met with opposition”, huh?

What I want to say will get me thrown off the forum, so I’ll just ... smile a little.

I’m going to be there.

Bring it on, you pansies!

Hey, shouldn’t there be a Free Republic presence there? A booth?
I’d help man it! I live less than an hour north of there.

"Ask the Limp Caraway how many citizens of Texans are members of the NRA and if the Limp Caraway would like to lose their votes for himself and his RAT cohorts."

That's the thing, see: he knows he and his ilk never HAD those votes and never will, so he can insult them freely.

He also knows that generally speaking, we NRA members aren't big on noisy demonstrations, preferring direct action i.e., voting and letting our politicos know we'll support them as long as they don't mess wtih our guns.

That's why it's now legal to carry openly in Texas, to carry concealed on college campuses, to carry concealed without a permit, and much more that was unthinkable in the bad ol' days of Dimocrats like Ann Richards in the Governor's Mansion.

GOA is app. 20% the size of the NRA and lacks the political clout. There was a time I belonged to both but no longer.

Political clout can be rectified. And, knowing the capitulation of the NRA, I can see that easily happening.
