We’re still not sure if it was a glitch, an “oops” or an intentional snub, but it looks like Easter Sunday has disappeared from Apple’s iPhone calendars under the company's latest software update.

Fox News reports some iPhone users have complained that Easter Sunday, which falls on April 1 this year and is the most important holiday in Christianity, has been erased from Apple’s calendar under its latest iOS version 11.2.5.

It’s such an issue with the “latest update” and the “war on Christians” that it was a problem back in **2013**.

If you actually *call* or *chat* Apple, all they will do is walk you through the US Holidays reactivation and resubscribe. This isn’t new.

How are you on the Internet, then? You must be using some device from these people you hate.

I just updated and my April first only has April fools. No Easter. It’s set to us holidays. I checked my iPad as well and it also is set to us holidays and Easter and Good Friday are gone. I’m running 11.2.6.

“I then called Apple, the first service rep I spoke with was sorta rude and dismissive but she forwarded me to someone who has been very helpful,” they continued, adding, “He had not been aware of the omission and sent a service inquiry. He phoned me back and sadly to him, informed me the response he received was, the calendar is as it should be and Apple decided to omit Good Friday and Easter from the US Holiday Calendar which is supplied on its products. This makes absolutely no sense.”

Amazon's Echo can answer what Allah and Buddha are but refuses to answer who Jesus Christ is.

Complete Bullsh!t. I just asked my Alexa who Allah was and she responded, "People all have their own views on religion". Asked who Buddha was and got a correct and short answer. Then asked who Jesus Christ was and got a very detailed and good answer (even though it sourced Wikipedia). Just confirmed that daughters' Apple does NOT have Easter Sunday tagged and does have IP day tagged (Oct 8). Makes me hate Apple even more.

All the ones I checked were running 11.2.6. Check that you are subscribed to the correct US Holidays calendar, listed in my post 58.

Yeah, I somehow have a serious problem believing that, having witnessed users disbelieving me and calling Apple on speakerphone as recently as last month. Valentine’s Day was missing on their phone. :P

OK, well, I saw a video of what I thought was Amazon’s Echo and those questions were asked and answered as I said. Maybe it was the Google version. I’ll try to find out.

Republicans have had plenty of opportunity to make it a national holiday but don’t seem interested in doing so. I never understood why they didn’t.

Maybe most of their customers are not Christians. Likely most of their customers are not indigenous as well.

“I just asked my Alexa”

I’m curious as to why people get such devices.

And if you actually bother *reading* the thread you linked, you’ll see that the solution is “resubscribe to US Holidays”. This is a user error issue, not an Apple omission; as an IT support consultant, I see this often around various holidays. As one example, last November I had a user who complained that Apple had deleted Thanksgiving and Christmas and went on a long rant about how this was a case of Apple attempting to delete traditional American holidays. After he finally wound down, I took his phone, turned US Holidays back on, and sent him away.

Thanks. Often there is a simple explanation which you found.

“Republicans have had plenty of opportunity to make it a national holiday but don’t seem interested in doing so. I never understood why they didn’t.”

I suppose, since it’s already pretty much national holiday in spirit and practice - and with it being on Sunday, there’s not much of a push for legal recognition.

Tho Apple some users don’t seem to be too happy about this development, from a user of the official Apple forum:
“There are plenty of posts in the past 48 hours about this. Yes, apparently the calendar has been secularized.”

Heh, but I actually do wonder what the draw is for users - e.g. is it just to have the latest device (like google glasses) or ?

Exactly. It was an intentional snub. Ever watch the Apple smarmy commercials all complete with diversity of races and lesbian/gay/trans freaks and the only thing you rarely see is white old men. They have the commercials on youtube but oddly enough they disable people from leaving comments.
