“.........why remove the death penalty option?”...

Excellent question. Sure didn’t take Clinton long to convict and do away with Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVey. Why should Cruz get a pass, he is also guilty? The death penalty should be enforced as it just may send a message to other would be shooters and bombers. Can’t see where keeping Cruz alive and costing millions would serve any purpose.

He won’t be executed for twenty years.

Good. Execute him in 20 years, because in 22 years, you may have Gov. Alan Grayson pardon our poor, misunderstood murderer. Kill the shooter. Return defective products to its manufacturer.

Put him in general population.Make sure the guards make his every waking moment a living hell.Make sure he always has bedsheets available to him and during "lights out" make sure that no guard goes near his cell.

In short order either one of his fellow prisoners will take care of him...or he'll take care of himself.

Liberals made sure no one under the age of 18 can be executed in 2005:

Prosecutors would need to agree not to ask for capital punishment...

If a prosecutor doesn't ask for the DP does that mean he absolutely cannot get it? I think I've heard of cases where the accused pleaded guilty to murder and got the DP.

There is also a deterrent aspect to the death penalty; these losers can’t think they’ll live out their lives with Mumia Abu-Jamal celebrity in prison...

I heard a student on the radio the afternoon of the shooting saying that the building where this took place is called the Freshmen Building, three stories, and was not connected to the main school building in any way (no walk passages). Doesn’t make it any less an added expense to tear down and rebuild, though.

Cruz is 19. He can be tried as an adult.

If he was still 17, it would be a different story.

The age difference is critical, indeed.

16 Feb: MyPalmBeach: Alleged Parkland shooter left suburban Lantana home over gun dispute
By Alexandra Seltzer and Eliot Kleinberg
LANTANA — Nikolas Cruz, the man charged in this week’s school massacre, left a suburban Lantana mobile home in November because his benefactor gave him an ultimatum: you or the gun.
“He bought a gun and wanted to bring it into my house,” Rocxanne Deschamps said publicly in comments that have since been removed from her Facebook page...

And Chad Bennett, Deschamps’ friend, said Cruz “chose the gun and he left.”...
Bennett said Cruz’s younger brother, who turns 18 next week, has continued to stay at the suburban Lantana home. On Friday, sources close to the investigation confirm, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies, assisting their Broward County counterparts, removed a person at midday from the mobile home to a mental health facility for treatment. Bennett said the person is Nikolas’ brother, whom The Palm Beach Post is not naming because he is a juvenile...

It’s worth noting that the Washington state legislature voted to ban the death penalty about the same time this guy was shooting.

Great timing and great optics, guys...

Very little gets “proved” in open court.

Now that Nikolas Cruz has admitted doing the shootings, I wonder when he will tell us why he did the shootings?

Cruz is 19. He can be tried as an adult.

I realize that. Point being, we must revisit the law which prevents those under 18 being executed because some nut under 18 is going to do the same thing.

And...now CNN is arranging the plea deal with the Defendant’s attorney before the Prosecution is even involved because they want to avoid executing the execution laws. Can’t have self government when CNN is there to decide what is needed.

National journalists are destructive scum and should be treated as such. They are not mistaken but vile corrosion instead.
