Opinion: After the Parkland shooting, let's call GOP hypocrisy on guns what it really is: complicity
NBC "News" ^ | February 15, 2018 | by Kurt Bardella

By their own logic, the GOP and Trump are complicit in America's mass shooting epidemic.

On January 20, 2018, President Donald Trump's campaign released a television ad titled “Complicit” that blamed Democrats for murders committed by illegal immigrants.

Trump tweeted that day: “Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border.

If Donald Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress can blame Democrats for the actions of undocumented immigrants, then the American people should be able to blame Trump and Congressional Republicans for murders committed with guns. After all, Republicans’ main criticism of Democrats on immigration is that they are too soft, too slow to crack down, too sympathetic to immigrants. And yet, Republicans are just as sympathetic to gun lobbyists and manufacturers - not to mention willing to take their campaign contributions - and just as slow to crackdown on background check loopholes.

This is an imperfect metaphor, however. Because while many researchers have concluded that undocumented immigrants do not commit a disproportionate number of crimes in the U.S., researchers do believe that there are specific gun laws that, if implemented, could reduce the number of mass shootings, and the lower the body count when fatal shootings do tragically happen.

Earlier this month, Trump tweeted that “we need a 21st Century MERIT-BASED immigration system” and that our current approach to immigration was “outdated” and “hurt our economic and national security.”

Too bad this same logic hasn’t been applied to common-sense gun reform. And until that happens, it is not only likely — but assured — that more Americans will needlessly and brutally die.

Let’s call NBC’s complicity with Islamic terror and illegal immigration what it is, too.

Democrats are to blame for murders committed by school shooters.

All of the perps in recent school shootings were on meds; they should have been committed to mental institutions. Liberal judges, Democrats, and the ACLU closed the institutions and put the inmates on the street.

The blind and hysterical Dems think that they can solve this school killings by taking away your guns. Can the Democrats actually connect the dots, or are they themselves taking too many drugs?

Funny how the most militant gun control advocates tend to have serious ethical and legal issues of their own. Here’s the tip of the iceberg. Charles Rangell, aside from his tax evasion issues should’ve been arrested back in 1972 for obstruction of justice if not aiding and abetting in murder of NYPD Officer Phillip Carrillo. Fmr Cong Jesse Jackson Jr who did time for embezzlement. Fmr Cong Corrine Brown who got convicted on similar charges. This one’s a doozy fmr Cong Leeland Yee who introduced legislation that would’ve effectively nullified the 2A forced to resign because he’s doing time for...wait for eeet. GUN RUNNING. Remember Bernie Ward, the anti gun liberal talk show sensation. He was gonna put Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in their place. He’s spending the rest of his miserable life as a registered sex offender after doing time for. And speaking of pervs how about fmr Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, charter memebr of Blomingidiotberg’s Everytown for G7n Sense and friend of Shannon Watts aka gun control Barbie. He’s He’s under investigation for sexually abusing his 8 yr old cousin. This is nothing new. One of the first gun control laws, the Sullivan Laws of NY. What the gun grabbers don’t tell you is who those laws are named for. Big Tim Sullivan, a Tammany Hall kingpin even more corrupt than the Clinton’s. He wanted to make the streets of NYC safer, for him and his cronies and the muggers and gangsters in his back pocket. Eric Holder, Fast and Furious, ‘nuff said. Around 1990 the gun violence death clock was put up near Times Square. It was funded by Robert Brennan, a junk bond dealing scam artist who makes Bernie Madoff look like Mother Theresa. He had just gotten out of the joint for stock fraud and other such niceties. I’m sure he had a pragmatic reason for performing this public service
Hey if I scammed all those old folks out of their life savings I too would be scared sh!tless if they their kids or grandkids had easy access to firearms. Just sayin’

Hey Kurt, can you tell me WHEN Republicans advocated for the ILLEGAL possession, purchase or use of guns by the criminal element?

Because the Democrats have SPECIFICALLY advocated for the breaking of our immigration laws and are even demanding that we IGNORE the crimes these people committed AND allow these CRIMINALS to not only be allowed to break the law, but should be given FRONT-OF-THE-LINE privileges to American citizenship!

This might be the absolute worst comparison that I have ever heard of in ALL of my fifty years on God’s green earth!

““credible evidence” “

If ABC said it, nothing they say can be considered creditable if they don’t say who said it, how it was said, and why it is believable.

I have creditable evidence that aliens have landed in Seattle, Washington and live in salmon. And just because I say so, that makes it fact. Hell, it doesn’t even make it to the B.S. scale.

Complicity?

Like the Left’s complete total silence regarding Gun Control after the attempted political assassination of the GOP Baseball team? That kind of “complicity”?

By their own logic, the GOP and Trump are complicit in America's mass shooting epidemic.

Here's my 2-step solution:
(1) Mandate that every public school of elementary level or higher, or any school accepting federal monies, have a firearms instruction course.
(2) Issue a firearm to every high school student, which they will own upon graduation; this is proper for members of the militia. (Which most States define as able-bodied males 18-45.)

My first answer is. We really don’t have a gun violence problem in this country. Not if we look at the overall rate of gun ownership and leave out gun violence that is not suicide or gang related. So the premise that something needs to be done about “all these shootings” is based on a false premise and is about gun grabbing not finding a solution to violent behavior.

The big problem is that the system is not set up to react to red flags. There are concerns about stigmatizing certain populations. Violation of constitutional rights. Concerns about medical privacy laws. The answer might be expanding the idea of mental health court. Honest research into the connection certain medications have into violent tendencies would also be helpful.

It is not easy. In the end I am left with “Bad people do bad things.” So stay safe.

I reject his basic premise. The hypocrisy is not on the GOP side of this equation.

This guy is a f---ing moron. Logically, inanimate objects cannot be blamed for any action(s) since they are, by definition, inanimate.

More moronic bullsj!t

"researchers" "believe"

Who are these researchers and what is the basis of this "belief"?

"NBC THINK" should either change their name to "NBC BELIEVE" or they should start requiring that their contributors actually have the ability to think.

Remove the mentally challenged from society. Do not remove the inanimate guns from society.

Where I live, IF I called the Sheriff, I would be lucky to have a deputy here before 20 minutes. Especially since the massive cutbacjs due to the depression that Schumer started when he said the Indy Mac bank was NOT solvent.

Also, I am fairly certain that murder is illegal in most states.
Possibly all 57?
