The deranged 19-year-old accused of the worst school shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre may have been sent over the edge when his single mom died of complications from the flu in November, family said.
Suspect Nikolas Cruz, 19, is accused of killing 17 and injuring more than 15 when he opened fire inside South Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Wednesday.
He and younger brother Zachary were adopted as infants by Roger and Lynda Cruz, but Roger died from a heart attack a decade ago, leaving Lynda to raise the boys herself, according to family.
Lynda, 68, checked into a clinic with the flu and was rushed to a hospital, where she died Nov. 1 of pneumonia, cousin Kathie Blaine told ABC News.

Public hanging in order to take any attraction to such actions out of the minds of those who can be convinced they are not going down in a blaze of attention grabbing glory.

In addition to autism, 19 is in the age range when schizophrenia manifests. It is a genuine, serious disease of late teens to young adults, and the majority of those affected are male. This is yet another reason why our society should not be giving powerful psychotropic drugs to young boys. Most, if not all of the young school shooters are males who have been given such drugs for years.
Here comes the ‘diminished capacity’ defense; will wind up in a mental hospital forever.

If losing your parents or a loved one is an excuse for the savage murder of multiple victims... The streets would be filled with blood. The poor lad was a sociopathic lunatic, pure, simple and no explanations required.
I am truly baffled by people who attempt to determine the ‘motive’ for those who randomly murder multiple people because it’s Monday, or Valentines day, or because they woke up in the morning. There is no motive for the behavior of a sociopath. Do you really think that people like this high school shooter or Hillary Clinton get up in the morning with a conscience. They do not.

Everyone’s mother passes away sooner or later. No excuse.
We have a society that makes it very difficult to get those in need of help the help they require if they decide they don't want it, then that same society makes excuses when these folks snap.
They cause the problem then try to blame inanimate objects for their failings...
The vast majority of folks who lose their parents don’t go shooting up a school because of it.

I have a cousin who has a son who was a student at MSD. They moved back to NJ a few months ago. When she told him what was occurring, he looked at her and said “It’s Nick Cruz” just that fast..
We don't know what degree of RAD he may have had from whatever quality of fathering.
We don't know about his degree of autism and how he was dealt with on that score.
We don't know when his aberrant values and acting out began.

There is NO human behavior without a reason.
We may not know the main reasons for his behavior but such reasons are there somewhere in his history.
It is not a simple matter of him waking up on a Monday morning and deciding to go demonically berserk.
Stop giving these disturbed mass killers the attention they seek.
The media hopes for these kind of massacres to drive their ratings. It has become like a form of porn: “School Shooting Porn”, “Massacre Porn”, “Mass Murder Porn”.
The media has a fetish for these mass shootings. Wall to wall, saturation coverage, saying the same things over and over and over again, being as graphic as they dare be.
Massively scale back the coverage of these horrific events and they will begin to go away.
