The deranged 19-year-old accused of the worst school shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre may have been sent over the edge when his single mom died of complications from the flu in November, family said.
Suspect Nikolas Cruz, 19, is accused of killing 17 and injuring more than 15 when he opened fire inside South Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Wednesday.
He and younger brother Zachary were adopted as infants by Roger and Lynda Cruz, but Roger died from a heart attack a decade ago, leaving Lynda to raise the boys herself, according to family.
Lynda, 68, checked into a clinic with the flu and was rushed to a hospital, where she died Nov. 1 of pneumonia, cousin Kathie Blaine told ABC News.

Probably, but he was teetering on the edge long before her death.
Original parents - gone.
Adopted father - died at 9.
Adopted mother - died at 18/19.
He took the way of Cain, pure and simple. He had no more “reason” than the first recorded murderer did (anger/resentment/hatred).

I can’t even imagine being 68 with a rebellious 19 year old.
But people wanted to know about his parents. They are either all dead or gone. There you have it.

In most cases, yes, but the article said he may have been diagnosed with autism.
Autistic people can’t handle sudden change, and the loss of a parent, especially one so close as his mother, would have a catastrophic effect on him.

Seems we have heard this before regarding psychotropic drugs in youths.
Buzzfeed has a bit that suggests he made an alarming comment on a video last September, well before his Mom got sick. The FBI knew about him. Probably never followed through because they are too busy trying to get Trump.

Yep...he was a ticking time bomb. If it wasn’t her death that set him off, something else would have down the road.
They’re trying to take the responsibility for this evil off of him and place it on his circumstances and the “wicked gun culture”.
Unbelievable, that an adoption was approved 20 years ago, when the woman was 48 years old.

No, he was one social media for years and no one paid any attention to it.
I’s always amazed that with all the information about a person is known it comes as surprise when they actually act. From the 9/11 bombers to the Boston bombers everyone knew about them and were warned before hand. yet is a shock when they do something.
