Well I have worked with Filipinos and they never called them selves anything other than Filipinos, I lived in a neighborhood with numerous Samoan families and they referred to themselves as Samoans or Islanders, as a matter of fact the svelte 300 pound Samoan women insisted on referring to themselves as Island Girls. Still if the person referred to in the article as a Samoan and then as a Filipino it’s not just confusing it’s ignorant, but hey that’s today’s journalism for ya.
Another platoon in our series had a big ol’ Samoan drill instructor. He scared US, and we weren’t even his platoon.
I had a Samoan sergeant when I was in the Army. He was huge, smart, and an all-around great man. His wife and daughters were beautiful!!!
