“Special Forces Marine” — ?????
That's “Force Reconnaissance" commonly referred to as
Force Recon. A friend of mine was in them and I always thought he was saying "Forest Recon." Later I read up on this highly skilled Special Forces Operations capable unit.
The Clint Eastwood movie Heartbreak Ridge was about a Force Recon unit.

Nicholson’s promotion pay for the 10 years should go the guys defamed. He should also lose those promotions. Any officer who makes a statement advocating guilt before the conclusion of the investigation should be demoted.

I spent a short time working for then Col Nicholson a few months after the attack. Nice guy to talk to, but he struck me as a politician in uniform. Some argue that is exactly what is needed for an insurgency fight. Maybe. But it never pays to trust a politician, IMHO.
