Amazing. I am absolutely POSITIVE that the irony of their statement remains lost on them even today...

Al Gore, winner of the Nobel Prize in Climatology, who took the lead in creating the internet, who is probably the smartest person on the planet, said that as the Earth warms up, it cools down, or something.

Flat Earthers are as fact-free as the Russian Conspiracy hoaxers.

Fact 1 - Ferdinand Magellan set sail with 5 ships.

Fact 2 - only one ship made it back home.

Are you claiming that the other 4 didn't fall off the edge?

At a high enough altitude, the balloons just burst.

The earth is flat because the soles of our feet are flat.

“Yup, Flat-Earthers Think the Falcon Heavy Launch Was a Conspiracy”

I KNEW it! It was all faked in a Hollywood studio, right?

I want all of your bigfoot deniers to zero in on the Flat Earth Society's position.

It's the same position you'll be in when and if the species is confirmed. We'll all giggle and snark at you.

hmmm...... how did they release the phone to fall?

Yes, and how did the phone take good pictures if it was covered in bubble wrap?

Whatever. Re the rocket launch, I’ll defer to the guy who wrote the 5000 word blog post while waiting for DMV on why (satire) the government should be running healthcare...

...couldn’t have stated it better myself.

Some view this launch as an expression of our society; I view it as proof of failure of our government and Musk is no free enterprise success story. The mere suggestion that Musk represents anything Conservative whatsoever is truly hypocritical.

How is “Musk is no free enterprise success story”?
The guy has a personal goal, and is rebuilding industries and making boatloads of money to achieve it. Insofar as he’s “getting subsidies”, all he gets is tax cuts so he can use more of his _own_ money for the ventures (and generating _more_ tax revenue in the process).

How is “The mere suggestion that Musk represents anything Conservative whatsoever is truly hypocritical”?
His personal values may differ from yours, but upshot is he’s driving human ingenuity thru science, engineering, and capitalism - there’s nothing “not conservative” about what he’s doing. Insofar as he’s “getting subsidies”, he’s made clear he doesn’t need them, but would be foolish to not leverage $billions in tax credits when thrown at him. (You take tax credits when _you_ can, right?)

Google “balloon cell phone earth” and you’ll see reports/videos of several teens doing such things.

Too funny. I don’t know why we are hearing from these bozos so much all of the sudden. I would assume it’s something that liberals are somehow trying to tie to Trump and his supporters so they can laugh at them, even though it’s a huge stretch.

Wow. Just wow. Then George Soros isn’t so evil after all.

Musk is an opportunist. If you’re telling me that it’s Ok to be promoting junk science to the benefit of marketing products (the core business, not the rocket side of things) and that the effects of the government endorsement of junk science is Ok with you AND Conservative...

...then I have some choice words for you dude.

I’m a space junkie, too, but I’m not emotionally-invested in the failings of NASA or the heavily-subsidized activities of Musk’s enterprises. The fact is that with proper leadership, these rocket accomplishments were ALREADY on the table at NASA but the agency faltered.

The fact is ALSO that the junk science in my own state has already resulted in higher utility bills, higher hidden taxes, higher gas taxes and, soon, a brand new $1k/year cap & trade tax. I’m not even going to get into the housing market problem and the jobs market which has my state overworked in low-paying jobs due to ANOTHER facet of government ineptitude: Healthcare.

Government overspending (including subsidies of ALL types), overregulation and overtaxation are anathema to Conservatism.

You made a comment yesterday supporting Rand Paul’s opposition to the OVERspending bill yet you support Musk’s taking the overspent dollars?

Hypocrite. That or you’re severely ideologically-challenged.

Musk is a major part of the problem and his little rocket side business is certainly no solution to anything tangible (free marketing to him is all).

You can take your emotional investment in a leech on US taxpayers and hypocrisy and put it where the sun don’t shine.

Bull hocky.....

Musk is in business and is advancing both science and the art of rocketry. He is private business, Capitalism at work.

The government has seen fit to subsidise private business rather than act as a socialist state and let a barely functional government do it.
