They’re called gypsies because people thought they originated from Egypt which explains why some might think Esmeralda was African. However, the original Roma came from northwestern India. Of course, all of the wandering brings on a variety of ethnic groups mixing in over the centuries.
Nevertheless, the gypsy Esmeralda was kidnapped as a child and is actually the daughter of an anchoress in Paris. It seems unlikely that a religious hermitess from Rheims would be of African origin.
In any event this play should be banned since it is a cultural appropriation of Gypsy culture (according to sjw “political theory”). :-(

My years on this earth have led me to certain immutable truths, and one of those is that gypsies are criminal savages and they suck.
Many gypsies are dark skinned, but they aren’t believed to hail from Africa.
She has no other Origins? Very dark-skinned to me means black skin. That’s very strange for a true Romanian to have VERY dark skin. I know they’re usually either light brown or medium brown but they consider themselves white, at least the ones I know. There a lot of Romanian gypsies settle around the Southern parts of the US.

My cousin. He grew up like I did. Conservative. Preachers’ kids. Seminary students. Loved being on the family farm with guns, etc.
He moved to Ithaca in the mid-’70s. At a family reunion last year he asked why we moved to Tennessee. I said, for one thing, reasonable Second Amendment rights. He said, “Oh. You’re one of THEM.” So he went to the dark side in Ithaca.

She claims to be Puerto Rican, but my late great-grandmother, who grew up in what is now the Ukraine, swore until her dying breath that she was Romani.
Her background/upbringing is very nebulous, and she’s not comfortable talking about it. She’s not black, but her skin is darker than your typical Puerto Rican. I would say she’s complected like someone from India.

No offense but HELL NO! Idris Elba could be A OO but he should never be OO7/James Bond. Why is that such a difficult thing for people to understand. James Bond is a white male. He has a history/backstory that makes him who he is. Making a woman or person of color james bond is just stupid. You are asking people to just ignore everything they know and accept something that makes no sense.
Far better to cast Idris Elba as a OO agent in the james bond world. If it has the same budget/treatment as a OO movie it should do just fine. The problem is nowadays the studios dont want to take a chance on such a thing (or their market research tells them that such a project won’t pay off so they want to ride the coattails of a successful franchise but be able to say we are “inclusive”.
The whole thing stinks because everyone is afraid to just tell the truth. The rest of the world isn’t interested in such PC Bull Shite and they won’t pay for it. That should be the deciding factor. Everything else is just noise.
Esmeralda was a french child that was kidnapped and raised by gypsies.
She should be white.
If I had school age kids I would make any sacrifice necessary to keep them out of the public school system.
