It’s just one poll from one polling outlet (albeit one given an A+ rating for accuracy and sound methodology by FiveThirtyEight). But for Democrats already concerned about the love shown the president in snap polls following last night’s State of the Union Address, the first 2018 national survey from Monmouth University lands like a punch in the mouth.
Compared to its December poll, the new results (taken from interviews between January 28 and January 30) show big gains for both Trump and his party among registered voters. His December job approval rating, at 32 percent, was his lowest since taking office according to Monmouth’s temperature readings. Now it has bounced up to 42 percent. Similarly, in December the GOP tax bill was notably unpopular, with 26 percent approving of it and 47 percent disapproving. Now opinions on the bill, after lots of hype about bonuses and cuts in tax withholding, are dead even at 44/44.
Worst of all for Dems, a 15-point advantage in the generic congressional ballot in December (51/36) is now down to two points (47/45). This equals the smallest Democratic advantage in any poll since the beginning of the current election cycle.
Yes, there’s been a general pro-Republican trend in the generic ballot in recent weeks. In the RealClearPolitics polling averages the Democratic advantage peaked at 13 percent just before Christmas, and has come down to 7.5 percent now. But that latter number is still consistent with major Democratic gains, and perhaps a House takeover, in November. A two-point margin is another thing altogether...

He better win :-) ... Connor Lamb looks like a problem ... a young liberal running as a moderate Democrat (and you know what he’ll morph into within 10 ns of setting foot in DC).
The district is very pro-Trump, but Lamb is a bit too close for comfort.

It won’t be winning until we replace the Bush League Republicans who are hell bent on providing the Democrats with a permanent majority through open borders and amnesty.
How heavy did they overweight the Dems to make it +2%?
That poll just makes you want to drool.
“Lamb” is a very well-known name among Democrats here. Members of that family have been in public office for nearly a century. A lot of the polling is from name recognition (like Bob Casey). Granted that IS a problem.

Poll schmoll. You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind’s blowing. Barring anything unforeseeable, the GOP will romp and rock and roll. Libtard heads will explode. Snowflakes will melt. More stories of...what will it be now? Chinese collusion? The polls, if accurate, will eventually reflect this. Easy to know. Just look at what’s happening in the real, non-MSM world, and see how clueless the Dems are to some very clear hints. Same as it was in 2016.

The Dems have insane hopes for taking over the House. My prediction is that Nancy Pelosi will barely win her seat and the Rats will at best pickup 3 or 4 seats or worse lose 8 to 10 seats in the House and as a result will be forced to resign as Minority Speaker. Pelosi won’t be able to withstand the pressure to step down and the party is going to want new blood. She will offer health reasons for stepping down. After all she will be 78 by the mid-terms.
She either is suffering dementia, or is just plain stupid. Maybe both. She can’t put together a coherent sentence, just rambles aimlessly.
Oh how hilarious it would be after all the hype from leftists on social media (and the mainstream media) the federal gains made by the Democratic Party in the 2018 midterms was just a few U.S. House seats (while losing seats in the U.S. Senate.)
And February’s higher paychecks due to the tax cuts haven’t even kicked in yet.....
If you thought the RATS had sour pusses last night, wait until you see their ugly faces the night of Tuesday, November 6th!
