Department of Justice Inspector General canceled his Tuesday Congressional briefing on the FBI’s Clinton investigation.

Earlier today Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was removed from his post at the FBI.

This came the day after FBI Director visited Capitol Hill to read the 4-page House Intelligence FISA memo.

But the New York Times said McCabe’s resignation was linked to the Inspector General’s briefing that was planned on Tuesday.

In a recent conversation, Christopher A. Wray, the F.B.I. director, raised concerns about a forthcoming inspector general report examining the actions of Mr. McCabe and other senior F.B.I. officials during the 2016 presidential campaign, when the bureau was investigating both Hillary Clinton’s email use and the Trump campaign’s connections to Russia. In that discussion, according to one former law enforcement official close to Mr. McCabe, Mr. Wray suggested moving Mr. McCabe into another job, which would have been a demotion. Instead, the former official said, Mr. McCabe chose to leave. His departure was not announced at the bureau, leaving agents to learn of it from news reports.

But the plans have changed.

The IG can certainly withhold documents from Congress when necessary. Congress can disband the IG’s office if they want, but until they do that the IG operates under the authority that is given to him by statute.

Short of disbanding the IG office, Congress can subpoena the DOJ, the FBI and the IG for their records. Congress also has the power to lock up, for example the DOJ IG, if he fails to comply.

Again, I don't think the IG is holding back documents here, that's what you are claiming. But if he was holding back documents, Congress could lock him up.

There are weeks to go while he’s under-wraps and now knows he can’t talk to anybody - even Jill - without being heard ... and he has to cooperate, testify, squeal, squirm, etc.. and all the other snakes are left to wonder what’s he’s saying. It doesn’t matter, with what Donna Brazile said about her fear of snipers after Seth Rich’s murder, that may be the least of his worries - it was said, when McCabe was (previously) booted from his office, a “special” cleanup team went in and one of the things they may have recovered was a report by the FBI digital experts who got a hold of SR laptop and McCabe had taken and been hiding.
