Trump to PC: “No More!” (This is great!)
city-journal.org ^ | Myron Magnet

Posted on 01/16/2018 7:12:15 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Two op-eds in this weekend’s Wall Street Journal and one on this website brilliantly call attention to aspects of the vast political and cultural change, still in its early stages, that is gathering force in this country as inexorably as the spring thaw breaks up a frozen river, first as a trickle and then a torrent. Donald Trump figures in all three stories. He is at once a cause and an effect of the change—the Tea Party movement embodied and in power, and as much a rejection of the existing order of things as the mob that swarmed onto British ships in Boston Harbor 245 years ago and flung overboard their cargo of tea whose tax they refused to pay in a gesture of defiance that declared “No more!” And they meant it.

Peggy Noonan’s Journal column observes that after Trump there will never again be a “normal” president. Never again, that is, will we elect some apparatchik from the haughty, out-of-touch, overpaid political class that has given us generations of arbitrary rule by the Administrative State’s unelected “experts” too inept to see a financial hurricane brewing;

*snip*

In the same paper, Shelby Steele points out that the lesson we should draw from the National Football League protestors—whose kneeling at the National Anthem drew much-publicized jeers from Trump and drove fans away from the stadiums—is that the days of black protest are over, because past years of heroic protest succeeded in making black Americans truly free (as Gene Dattel’s Reckoning With Race argued recently). The campus snowflakes’ worries about microaggressions, the Black Lives Matter protests, the armies of deans of diversity are all obsolete.

*snip*

On this site, Andrew Klavan dazzlingly argues that “rude and crude” President Trump, who “speaks like a Queens real estate guy on a construction site,” nevertheless speaks truths that well-mannered people are too cowed by political correctness to admit—such critically important truths as that violent criminals are disproportionately black, for instance, or that most terrorists are Muslim.

I agree with the President, but at this point going into mid terms, I am hoping to win over more moderate types. While I think all this sh*thole thing is overblown non-sense, what troubles me is how it plays. My wife is now totally turned off to Trump, is she a bell weather? I dont know, I hope not.

Sure, its the press/media/PC fault, but thats how things stand. Hope he can do more to win over the more moderate types, and less to turn them off. Because bottom line, for me its not about Trump, its about our side WINNING.

I’m with you. All very well to talk about the veracity of saying that some foreign countries are junk (because their governments are corrupt AND corruptING), and to say that crude language might break PC taboos. But the reality of what Tricky Dickie has done - via the enthusiastic reinforcement delivered by unijournalism - is to accomplish two profoundly unconservative things:
  1. Directly damage the international influence of the president of the United States. And,
  2. coarsen our language.

It does not matter whether or not Mr. Trump actually used the precise, or even approximate, words. What matters is that the president was not making a public speech, but making a point in a private discussion. And as I predicted before Mr. Trump tweeted to that effect, Mr. Trump will be instituting his own rule, similar to the “Pence rule” against being alone with any woman other than his wife. Mr. Trump already was wearing a “wire” whenever speaking with a journalist to assure himself against being unable to prove his claim if (when) he has to complain about being misquoted. Now Mr. Trump will never have a truly private conversation with any Democrat. He will always have a “wire.”

3 years ago, if you had told me Trump would turn out to be the president he is today, I would have told you to seek help.

Now I’m eating humble pie.

Even when he seems to have done something that would bury a normal president, and the press is attacking him, he’s doing something important in the background to make this nation better.

His administration is an amazing thing to watch play out.

In TV Tropes, they call this “the humiliation conga”. You see it happening to anime villains a lot.

I'll beleive we have finally turned a corner when corporations start teaching courses on "insensitivity training".

Hell, I could be one of the instructors.

I just wish every single elected Republican would craft a mantra that says, as succinctly as possible:

Minority community: Democrats gave you promises for 50+ years -— oh, and a welfare system that destroyed your families (Johnson).

Republicans gave you freedom from slavery (Lincoln); the most “yea” votes on the 15th Amendment for voting rights, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act; and the lowest unemployment rate recorded since the government started keeping track in January 1972 (Trump).

AND THEN REPEAT IT AD NAUSEUM!!!

Political Correctness is a manipulative, insidious method used to accomplish one thing: CENSORSHIP.

That is the only goal.

Insidious because it allows marxists to falsely claim the high ground via shaming. And it hides the truth.

Manipulative because it works so well on the army of useful idiots to avoid uncomfortable truths and rational thought, while making them feeeeel gooood.

It needs to be called out as the censorship it is.

MAGA!!!!

A Moderate is NOTHING but a person who allows their opinions to be formed by others.

They don’t, or can’t think for themselves.

They just follow the current “IN CROWD”.

That may indeed be the case, but we could still use some of their votes.

Way back when moderates were called middle of the roaders, some wag (R Limbaugh?) said if one is a ‘middle of the roader’ he stands to get run over by traffic coming from each direction... (not quite exact but context is there)
