APA Tells Psychiatrists: Stop Analyzing Trump With 'Armchair Psychiatry'

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) cautioned its members and all psychiatrists against using "armchair psychiatry" as a "political tool" when it came to the mental fitness of President Donald Trump, the Washington Free Beacon reported Friday.

"We at the APA call for an end to psychiatrists providing professional opinions in the media about public figures whom they have not examined, whether it be on cable news appearances, books, or in social media," the organization said in a statement issued this week.

My Dr. O took a "continuing education class" once a month. Every fourth Saturday. On his own time and dime.

He also kept abreast via 2 "continuing education classes" via Direct Mail from his Alta Maters, Johns Hopkins and Washington University-Barnes-Jewish Medical Hospital for Psychiatry-Research-Department, St.Louis.

I still receive mail from both, which is why I wrote to both complaining about that Yale crackpot.

The APA points out that mental health professionals diagnosed Goldwater from afar as “basically a paranoid schizophrenic,” who “resembles Mao Tse-tung,” the communist dictator responsible for the deaths of 45 million people.

“Not wanting to exclude other relevant 20th-century tyrants, another claimed, ‘I believe Goldwater has the same pathological makeup as Hitler, Castro, Stalin, and other known schizophrenic leaders,’” the APA said.

Now that Trump is facing similar attacks by members of its profession, the APA has had to reassert its commitment to the Goldwater Rule.

The points of the article are well taken. I'm surprised the APA made the proclamation as most of the higher ups in the APA are lefties.

That's interesting, dearest Art. I'm sure you know more about the APA than I'll ever know. I seem to recall that DrO eased his way out after becoming disenchanted with the organization's Left-wing political bent.

IIRC, in those days, the "higher ups" were mostly East Coast Jewish, (Libs) and while DrO was a devout Roman Catholic, he got along splendidly with Jewish doctors. He went into private practice with Jewish doctors, but none were outwardly Liberal. I noticed that APA's current President is a woman. UGH ... LOL.

But like all of relativism, their ideology is ultimately completely dependent on the basic truths it denies.

And as a medical science, psychiatry has no choice but to adhere to those basic truths.

Team Trump needs to do a study into per-capita shrinks in each county and then compare them with voting results.

I have a strong hunch that a strong correlation exists between counties with the highest per-capita of shrinks and democrat voting.

It would offer further proof that liberalism is a mental disease.
