>> Finally. Some professional ethics.
Sadly, objectivity has been subordinated to political expediency.
And it would be thoroughly ironic if it’s the likes of the APA to raise us from the collective brink of insanity.
>> Psychiatrists probably vote overwhelmingly democrat, too.
I wouldn’t make that assumption. Psychologists probably.
>> Of all medical specialties, psychiatrists have the greatest number of suicides
Stress of the job? Doubtful they’re encumbered with conservative clients.
I’ve noticed they have a lot of disturbed kids, too.
He should have included the episode from Madam Secretary Sunday night.
“The Goldwater Rule embodies these concepts and makes it unethical for a psychiatrist to render a professional opinion to the media about a public figure unless the psychiatrist has examined the person and has proper authorization to provide the statement,” said APA CEO and Medical Director Saul Levin, M.D., M.P.A. “APA stands behind this rule.”

NHS to Offer Biological Men Cervical Cancer Smear to Avoid Triggering Gender Dysphoria

Biological women who legally define themselves as men will not be routinely scanned for breast and cervical cancer, even if they retain these organs and remain at risk, the National Health Service (NHS) has said. However, at the same time, biological men who regard themselves as women are being invited for cervical smear tests even though it is impossible for them to have a cervix an official guidebook states.
I've read multiple biographies of Hitler and Stalin, and not one of them gave serious credence to any claims that either of them was "schizophrenic". Other mental disorders (sociopath, psychopath, etc) were mentioned as possibly being in place, but not schizophrenia. I have no idea what Castro's problem(s) were, but since he was in power during my lifetime, I saw many interviews and many reports of his behavior, and to me he simply appeared to be evil.
that is excellent. It has to be completely and ethical and professional to analyze youre having opinion about anyone that they havent seen personally.
There is a poster here, who left during in the primaries, who was supposedly a psychologist and was doing the exact same thing, giving a professional opinion on trumps mental state. When I pointed out that wasnt it unprofessional for her to give a professional opinion about someone that she had not even been In the same room with, much less the same state, she backed off. Gave some silly excuse. But Im pretty sure it didnt stop her from doing it again.
Trump is doing a good job of exposing the idiots.
It has to be completely and ethical and professional to analyze youre having opinion about anyone that they havent seen personally.
Note to self, do not call anyone an idiot in a post when you write things like that! Secondly, do not post before coffee.
I agree with you. The portion you referred to was a cut & paste quote and not my words.
“having opinion about anyone that they havent seen personally”
And if you have seen them personally, HIPAA prohibits you from disclosing any patient information.
I understand. The quote you posted was from the article. In retrospect, I probably should have posted my comments as a response to Post #1 (the article itself).
I apologize for any misunderstanding.
“supposedly a psychologist”
Bandy Lee is an MD and a psychiatrist. You must be an MD to be a psychiatrist, but MD is not required to be a psychologist,
The APA, American Psychiatric Association establishes ethical guidelines for psychiatrists
The APA, American Psychological Association establishes ethical guidelines for psychologists (which are not as strict as psychiatrists ethics rules)
Honestly, I don’t have the time of day for most psychologists, even if they have a Phd and go by Dr. as they do not have the expertise... and most of them were not smart enough to attend medical school.
No problem... My wife is an MD psychiatrist so I attend many programs on this topic.
You don’t want to know about all of their gun control programs at the APA conferences.
Evidence suggests that doctors are nearly 4X as likely to use drugs as a suicide method in attempt to overdose.
A more unexpected finding concerning physician suicides is that there’s no difference in the rates between male and female doctors. This is surprising because in the general population, men commit suicide at much higher rates than women. For example, in the United States, men commit suicide at nearly 4 times the rate of women, but women constitute about half of all physician suicides.
