I currently live on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland, but I am hoping to move to East Berlin, Pennsylvania when I retire in four (count ‘em...four...long) years. My family lives there and it is gorgeous, quaint, quiet and lovely. Not too far from Gettysburg.
A child I raised went to school at Washington College.
We’ve been looking around Bucks County. Yes, I know it is all lib but the property taxes are much lower than where we are and it is not far from NYC. I also love western Maryland.
(I’m probably just going to rent in NYC full time when our house sells. I’m looking to avoid property taxes.)
I’ll put a vote in for Pennsylvania. Lots of traditional rural towns, four seasons but not too much winter, and easy to get to other parts of the country. Avoid the cities.
