The current Libyan Slave Trade
Freedom Newspaper ^ | 01/03/2018 | Freedom Newspaper

Libya today is far from what it was under Colonel Ghaddaffi. In those days it was a strong sovereign state with ample wealth derived from oil. . . .

Failed government policies in many sub-Saharan countries have led to great poverty for the masses and a sense on hopelessness in the youth. . .

Is it any surprise that black Africans are being enslaved and sold in Libya and elsewhere in the Arab worls? Under the Jammeh regime women especially were being taken to Kuwait or one of the other Arab states and sold into semi-slavery. Freedom publicized a few cases two or three years ago and the ladies spoke of their plight on the radio. Gambians take note, in general the Arabs are no friends of ours.

Obama, McCain, Clinton, Graham and Rubio should all face trial for what they illegally did to Libya.

I think this would count, but one might have sympathy for the slaves too.

Removal of the Shah, Gaddafi, and Saddam Hussein did not result in better regimes.
Let that be a useful lesson for today.

Maybe the Hildebeest had Kadaffi overthrown to protect and promote the Clinton Foundation’s stake in the slave trade.

I don’t think the slavery in Africa today is like the slavery in US history; I believe many of the “enslaved” have just attached themselves to someone who feeds and houses them in exchange for work (they are that desperate, and that primitive). The article above refers to “debt bondage” and “ritual servitude” as well as actual “slavery”, and describes someone buying and freeing two slaves. Years ago it was brought to light that some Arabs were capturing slaves just to sell them to Western aid groups (who would free them).

It’s not easy to care the right way in this sad world because we don’t understand God very well, if at all, as a personal presence. In part it will be because this God will urge us to pray, if not also attempt to think or move, towards the freeing of people in seemingly hopeless situations.

And Islam is one of the most mission resistant situations known to Christendom. Christianity has to be literally smuggled in at great cost and risk. I know evangelicals do, and it’s very much on the QT and stories of great miracles abound.

Had I the wealth and my druthers I might put up another gospel shortwave station in their local language beamed at such areas, run from a well guarded site on the high seas. Then if necessary smuggle in the radios. Modern technology makes it far easier and a place like South Korea could crank them out.

Just as an example — the old fashioned way may still be best, but God can bless new ways too. An escape from a fatalistic life.
