Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke Wednesday about a new requirement in the Canadian summer jobs grant application that groups must indicate support for the right to access safe and legal abortions to be included in the program. Trudeau defended the requirement and called groups opposed to abortion not in line with where we are as a government, and quite frankly where we are as a society.
"If you're pro-life then you are ridiculed and insulted, but if you're pro-choice then you are praised," a student told Trudeau at a town hall at McMaster University and was greeted with applause.
Trudeau replied that defending rights and freedoms is at the core of who I am and, quite frankly, is at the core of who Canada is. At the same time, we need to know that there is a difference between freedom of expression and acting on those expressions and beliefs.
He went on to explain his issue with pro-life groups receiving the grant.
An organization that has the explicit purpose of restricting womens rights by removing rights to abortion and the right for women to control their own bodies is not in line with where we are as a government, and quite frankly where we are as a society, he said.
He also clarified that while people can believe what they want, acting on those beliefs were problematic, in his view.
Of course, youre more than allowed to have whatever beliefs you like, he continued. But when those beliefs lead to actions determined to restrict a womans right to control her own body, thats where I, and I think we, draw the line as a country. And thats where we stand on that.
Trudeau called abortion an "important right" for Canada.
Women have fought for generations for the right to control their own bodies, to be able to choose themselves what to do with their bodies, when and with whom to have children, he emphasized. This is a really important right that we have established.
Toronto Right to Life sued over the requirement last week saying it violated their Canadian Charter rights to freedom of expression and to freedom of conscience and religion.
Our conscience compels us to not sign that attestation, Blaise Alleyne, president of Toronto Right to Life told the Catholic Herald. It is a violation of our freedom of conscience and freedom of expression for the government to compel speech or else punish us by withholding an unrelated benefit.
That is his opinion.
So Canadians are pro-baby killing?
Baby killers of the world unite!
Does baby-face realize what he just said?
But they go apoplectic at the thought of clubbing baby seals.
Mark Stein mocked this whole “who we are” crap last night on Tucker’s show. It’s PC nonsense.
This is the epitome of the elitism, arrogance and superiority of the left. Only what THEY say is right. Everyone else had better get with the program.
This is what you get when you elect a prancing poofster drama teacher.
When ever I see people like this making statements like that, I keep thinking it is too bad for us their mothers didn’t believe that.
Well, I’ll be! A Satanist speaks the truth for once?
As soon as they’re safe for the gestating child too, Canada could look at it again.
Something needs to knock the Canadian political scene upside the head.
If his mom would have killed him before he was born...
She would be a good Canadian?
Thats_Not_Who_We_Are. Where have I heard THAT before?
“Mark Stein mocked this whole who we are crap last night on Tuckers show. Its PC nonsense.”

My stock reply - “We? You got worms?”.
These people are just wrong.
Hmmm, if they controlled their own bodies then they wouldn’t need quite so many abortions, would they?
I have a solution! Stop handing out taxpayer money for grants to anyone for anything. When are conservative groups going to realize that government funds always come with strings attached?
Aren’t they all queer now anyway, kind of solves that problem.
Trudeau’s mother—a mentally ill slut—did in fact believe in abortion and bragged about her own. That is no doubt where Justin gets his values.
