Mandatory diversity course not effective, prof discovers

on Jan 04, 2018 at 2:12 PM EDT A professor at East Carolina University recently discovered that the diversity course she teaches isn’t actually “effective” in changing students’ racial or gender biases.
Dr. Michele Stacey based her conclusions on surveys of 288 students that she conducted both before and after they completed the course, which is mandatory for Criminal Justice majors and minors.

Dr. Michele Stacey, who teaches criminal justice at ECU, assessed the efficacy of the school’s diversity course by surveying 288 criminal justice students’ attitudes towards women and minorities both before and after taking the course, publishing her findings in the latest issue of the Journal of Criminal Justice Education.
Race, Gender, and Special Populations in the Criminal Justice System is a three-credit course that is required for the ECU major and minor in criminal justice. Aimed at educating students about the challenges of minorities in the criminal justice system, the course covers a variety of topics, including Native Americans and African Americans.
But while the course is also offered in the spirit of helping to reduce student’s bias towards these groups, Stacey discovered something interesting.
After assessing the bias of students before and after the course—using prompts such as “a woman should worry less about their rights and more about becoming good wives and mothers” and “if blacks would only try harder they could be just as well off as whites”—Stacey found that the course hadn’t altered students’ attitudes towards race or gender.
Only their attitudes towards homosexuality had changed, she found.

Diversity only works if people have the same reasons for being and working together.

“Diversity course”. How can there be a diversity course? It’s obviously not to teach the definition of diversity. It’s compulsory thought shaping. You don’t go to a diversity class to learn all about what diversity means. You go to be forced into compliance.
If you’re White, you are shamed, harassed and blamed for all the evils in the world. If you’re non-White you have a much easier time - you are taught that you have no responsibility for your failures, and that you can blame them on Whitey.
The purpose of these courses isn’t to change anyone’s mind. It’d to demonstrate to them that someone has the power to force them to attend and to tell them what to think.
It wasn’t long ago that Americans did have the “same reasons for being and working together.”
We were all Americans first and foremost. We believed in the Constitution, freedom, liberty, patriotism, and that hard work and thrift were rewarded. It was The American Experience. Perversion was shunned and not rewarded. People got married before having kids and went to church or synagogue. There were almost no moslems in America.
Then some groups set out on a mission to destroy that over a half-century period and succeeded beyond their wildest imaginations.

Greenville NC is a pretty nice town. Near the ECU campus runs MLK Blvd. 99% of the violent crime in Greenville occurs along that strip.
Teacher should tell her kids to take a stroll down MLK after midnight for a lasting lesson in diversity.
Combine this with the story earlier today, where in Tennessee U student who is probably aligned with this prof, says it's okay to kill a child up until 2 (for now) if they can't be communicated with.
