BOSTON (AP) - A Boston police detective is set to be sentenced Thursday for lying to federal officials so he could take his gun on planes during personal trips and allow a friend to avoid airport security.
Sgt. Detective Bruce Smith faces up to a year of probation under the terms of a plea deal. He has also agreed to resign from the department and pay a $7,500 fine.
The 28-year veteran of the force was charged last year with falsely telling Transportation Security Administration officials that he was on official police business and was authorized to carry his firearm. Prosecutors allege he flew armed on about 28 trips from Boston’s Logan International Airport.

There was nothing in that link about a dog running upstairs and being shot under a bed. The story at your link said the mayor was upstairs when he heard gunshots.
Until it’s disproved, I’m going to have to think the dogs were behaving like dogs: defending their people and their home.

That tells us we’re dealing with a couple of Obunghole/PIAPS voting whackadoodles. Anything they say is presumed suspect at best.
All that said, it seems to me that the mere use of SWAT under these circumstances is indicative of the involvement of at least some people who should never be cops.
The drug scheme involved mailing drugs to *unsuspecting*innocent*people* and intercepting the packages before the innocent people got them. Why would they call SWAT in and break down the door of one of these innocent people?
Sometimes I wonder if the over-militarized SWAT people don’t use these “soft-target” raids as training exercises, when they shouldn’t be there at all.

In the original story cops came to the mayor’s house and busted in over a false story he had marijuana/drugs. There were two labs, one was shot immediately the other lab ran upstairs and hid under a bed. A cop went up there and shot the dog under the bed. That was the story at the time. I didn’t make it up.
I remember that case now that you mention it. That’s the kind of power mad evil arrogance of the police that we rage against. Especially in their zeal to pursue the “war on drugs”. Despicable and they never seem to have to pay a price. Basically gangsters with badges.

Guess I should have said "...some poorly trained or mentally deficient cops..."
Then the list of innocent targets, based on all the items reported in the news during the past year, could have been expanded substantially.
