24/7/365 - Police do not get paid by the hour. Perhaps off-duty shouldnt respond to emergencies when not actually on duty. Then explain overtime pay.

“Then explain overtime pay”
Compensatory pay (comp time). Salaried with pay over what the union considers a duty cycle.

I stay armed and gave up airplanes. Yes, but you guys have the great cars to get you around!

Perhaps “off-duty” shouldn’t respond to emergencies when not actually “on duty”.While it is possible that an off duty copy may 'respond' to an emergency, the courts have ruled they have no duty to protect any specific person, even while on duty, so I really do not see why they should be treated any differently than any other citizen. Personally, I think folks should welcome anyone with a CCW to fly armed, since CCW holders in most (if not all) states have lower rates of criminality and violence than police.

eagerly latch on to the inevitable one story per week of outrageous Police responses. Is that the new mantra to absolve cops of any responsibility of their actions? I've seen it in several posts the past few days. Guess the word has gotten out.
Hint: If cops didn't act outrageously as often as they do, there would be less source material.

Police should be encouraged to carry their guns on air flights.No. absolutely not. If I can't carry, they shouldn't be able to either.

Except for the Bundy threads, I find I agree with quite a bit.

More like swing shifts, or bag time for truckers or flight crews. We used to call them watch rotations.

No.
It all depends if the cops have a search warrant, doesn’t it?
Cops have no business in your house unless they have a warrant.

Your mileage may vary.
Happen to live in a town that is considered *affluent*. The cops in our town are arrogant; pull stuff out of their arses all the time; they have been repeatedly taken to court for their bad judgement calls. And lost the litigation every time.

IIRC, the article said they did. The question in my mind is whether the dogs were menacing the cops.
The only thing we have on that is the word of these two Xlinton-voting wackadoodles, and that alone is not good enough for me.
