Roy Moore unwilling to concede: ‘It’s not over’
NY Post ^ | December 13, 2017 | 12:10am | David K. Li

GOP Alabama Senate Candidate Roy Moore refused to concede on Tuesday night and insisted more votes could still swing the race and save him from a stunning defeat to an underdog Democrat.

“When the vote is this close, that it’s not over,” he told supporters in Montgomery at his campaign rally shortly after Democrat Doug Jones already had been declared the winner by multiple news organizations and had given a televised victory speech.

With all precincts reporting, Jones had 49.9 percent and Moore 48.4 percent.

Moore quoted from scripture and told supporters to wait for all votes to come in – including provisional ballots and those cast by overseas military members.

“That’s what we’ve got to do, is wait on God and let this process play out,” Moore said. “But the votes are still coming in and we’re looking at that.”

Yep, claiming we can't overcome an innate weakness is really helpful.

Claiming Trump actually didn't win against that weakness is beyond silly, it' simply untrue.

I think we're done.

I hope you feel great about giving in to the leftist spin.

I feel sorry for all those down there that gave in, it's genuinely tragic. You all get a Senator that goes against everything you believe in, just because the leftist Alynskyites made you bark like trained seals.

Congrats.

It’s hard to say. A plateaued Roy would have had troubles.

He’s interesting but perhaps too flawed to have been propitious. Too rigid. Had I been an Alabaman, I’d have voted either Moore or Strange, no problem.

It seems that maybe his May-December courtships were a socially expected thing at the time. I wouldn’t call it wise even if formally decent. It smacks of the matchmaker of earlier times. Roy could perhaps have risen above this by explaining social courtship expectations that he passed up in favor of taking and loving a wife closer to his own years. That could have gone far to humanize Roy’s image.

The mushy middle is what Roy lost.

Roy had baggage and didn’t even think to put “traveled the world” stickers on it.

POLIICO Democrats cling to the impossible: Winning the Senate in 2018
Capturing the majority would mean prevailing in deep-red terrain like Texas or Tennessee.

I think we're done.

Lol, you simply refuse to look at reality for what it is. There are conservative voters who will not vote for a candidate due to moral objections, even that helps a worse candidate win. Fact of political life.

And if you think the state of Alabama is a problem in the battle against liberalism, then you are a complete ignoramus when it comes political history of the USA, and the present realities in the USA.

You simply have a bogus point you're trying to make and you refuse to look at realities that most accept, even if they don't like them.

A cherry on top huh.

Well, Roy faced an acid test that FR might have screamed Unfair! about. But it was there.

And Roy came off a tad robotic when he didn’t have to. The great legal mind was flummoxed on his own defense.

Here’s another reality: pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Sorry, you've simply lost your mind, given in to the leftists.

Congrats.

Keep trying to pretend that's not what you're doing, and keep on keeping on.

Go ahead, keep making excuses. You're good at it.

And yes, we're done. Say what you want, I won't respond.

I didn’t think they would prevail in deepest deep red Alabama no matter who the GOP nominated! But they did!

Perhaps many Alabamians figured on hiring jones as a 2-year temp....with zero chance of reelection.

Impy, I agree that we need to concentrate on the 2018 elections. Next year, Republicans will gain four seats in the Senate and eight seats in the House.

Sole reason for hiring Jones for anything is - entertainment value!

Even that would get old quick!

This is excellent for the Republican Senate. As long as the issue is legally in doubt, Strange is the junior senator from Alabama. Once the issue is settled, my reading of the Seventeenth Amendment
The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.

When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.

is that the winner is the junior senator from Alabama.

I see Congressman Mo Brooks said this race may have been a killer for him, literally. He just announced he has prostate cancer and might not have found out had he been the nominee out aggressively campaigning. Prayers for him that he’s able to beat it.

Yet he ran in the primary. Prostate cancer is very treatable.
