Yep. The relative safety of the swamp was not going to get a good stirring up. The public is starting to take this “jerk” (Marie Harff on Fox today) president seriously and that he is doing good things for we the people, not they in control.

You aren’t going to get “impeccable” candidates. Hell, Winston Churchill and Donald Trump weren’t impeccable candidates!

The other problem is that what level-headed, decent conservative man is ever going to want to enter into the cesspool that is our broken and battered and nasty political system. Who wants to be ripped apart by fighting the deep and all powerful swamp?

There are easier and better ways to live your life. Impeccable candidates would almost always say “no thanks.”

“it was the creepy sexual history.”

no.
it was the emotion/feeling based voters who sat out instead of using commonsense and loyalty to country!

They chose to idolize their feelings instead of trusting God and making a choice at the ballot box.

I’d not say this if they even voted overwhelmingly for Jones, but to not vote at all, it’s just cowardly in my opinion. It just says you don’t care enough about the your state or country as a whole to use your ability to vote. Like people who need income but don’t look for a job. that bad in my opinion.

You’re too funny, Diogenes. There are no honest men? I’d say that we could find 100,000 Republican Conservative candidates in a state like Alabama who don’t have the baggage of a guy like Roy Moore. We don’t have Saint, but, and maybe you don’t know this, a lot of men in their thirties don’t hangout at the mall trying to pick up kids too young to get a driver’s license. But hey, maybe you’re right. Maybe men are too flawed for public service.

The whole thing really didn’t bother me and for the same reasons you point out. Still, I bet a lot of republicans with teenaged daughters/grand daughters nieces etc stayed home today.

The optics of him getting interviewed by a 12 year old girl recently probably didn’t help.

Personally, I doubt the whole groping thing but I don’t really doubt that he was attracted to them and dated some.

Hannity begged him to deny his creepy sexual history. He couldn’t do it. He babbled about getting the girls Mother’s permission.

The electorate is what it is - susceptible to emotional manipulation. You can’t change the electorate, so pick conservative, well spoken, smart candidates, who have run and won elections before, and have ultra clean backgrounds. Then we can have 60+ seats in the senate and make permanent changes to the way the country is run.

Well, I sure didn’t think the electorate in Alabama, of all places, could be manipulated like this. Tough pill to swallow.

Come on, it is over.

Sen.-elect Doug Jones (D-Ala.)

It’s over. You think that the Left would allow Moore to do a Gore 11/8/00?

or educate the electorate. its what the founders expected of the citizens. too many citizens not living up to their position.

you are not going to find people as you say to run.

you can change the electorate if you/people try, just as dems HAVE changed it to believe as they want and vote as they want.

who’s side are you fighting for?

I think most reasonable people will believe that at least some of the allegations are true, and if you do, then it is hard to vote for the guy. I believe the allegations, and would have voted for Moore anyway because Trump needs every possible vote in DC, but it would have been much better to just nominate a decent candidate.

“Now, there’s one thing you might have noticed I don’t complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don’t fall out of the sky. They don’t pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It’s what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you’re going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain’t going to do any good; you’re just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it’s not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here... like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There’s a nice campaign slogan for somebody: ‘The Public Sucks. F*ck Hope.”

-George Carlin

In a competitive state, I would agree with you, but I thought Alabama was our California. Guess not...

If we can lose in Alabama we will lose everywhere as long as we have ‘friends’ like Mitch and Mitt Romney.

Very good point. I expect the Arizona primary will be a blood bath now. Kelli “Crazy” Ward to get nuked just as bad as Brooks and Moore were by the GOPe. If she manages to win the primary the chamber of commerce donor money will be cut off.

What do you expect when people they’ve respected for 30 years like Senator Shelby tell them to elect a Democrat? The average person isn’t able to war game out the consequences of electing Jones.

his creepy sexual history.

Would you like me to ping the freeper with a similar “creepy sexual history” in their family? The fact is there was nothing unusual about what Moore did 40 YEARS AGO in Alabama. Buy a clue and don’t be manipulated by the Swamp, FRiend.

Yeah, so what? In the next election, Scott Brown got his head handed to him by a Harvard Law Professor who was recruited there largely based on “Maw-Maw” and “Paw-Paw” stories about her alleged Native American ancestor.

You want a real parallel? Go back about 8 years to Nevada or Kansas when the incumbent Demo-rat Senator was eminently beatable. The Republicans came up with candidates that were so bad that many dyed-in-the-wool Conservatives couldn’t bring themselves to support “their” candidate.

Yeah that will be their new playbook. I hope it’s not the beginning of the end. Trump is a fighter but the rest of the GOP not.
