The Punisher Isn’t Anti-Gun. It’s Pro-Freedom.

Author’s note: Below includes some minor spoilers for The Punisher. Read at your own risk.

There’s a scene in the very first episode of The Punisher where the titular character, Frank Castle, asks Karen Page, a journalist, if she still carries a weapon.

Punisher: Still got that handcannon?

Karen Page: You better believe it.

*pats bag*

Punisher: Attagirl.

It’s a key scene in the show, setting the tone The Punisher isn’t going to shy away from discussing how individuals should have the ability to protect themselves. The show tackles this issue throughout its 13 episodes, bringing multiple viewpoints to the table. It’s almost impossible not to do because Castle is a gun-toting vigilante, who will use these weapons to go after those who deserve punishment.

This was a good show. There is a sideline story that pushed my expectations of the writers .. but they managed it well.

As far as the action, if you saw the Daredevil Punisher (They say the two are the same people.. but “different”) it was HARSH. I mean he looked like hamburger at the end of it and was still kickin.

The new season has some raw fights and some really bad injuries, but the Daredevil one was actually hard to watch. It was like prison riot footage.

Meh, what really stuck out in my mind was the Veteran Counseling Group:

An older loudmouth in the group constantly screams about how he can’t stand “all these NEW people” coming into the country, we gotta build the wall, THEY are taking away OUR GUNS:

The character at a dozen different turns is cast as intolerant, and ultimately, a Stolen Valor type who had never been in combat, though he always regailed anyone within earshot about him Planting The Flag On Suribachi —that kind of B.S.

And finally the fraud is murdered by whom...?

By the only other character shown to be an ultra-patriot.

Needless to say, that guy blows himself up, later.

MARVEL comics (who produces the series) is owned by a bunch of ultra-secular, liberal, Jewish, red diaper doper babies.

X-men movie producer Brian Singer was exposed in "An Open Secret" as a PEDOPHILE.

I noticed that loudmouth wore an NRA hat in one scene.

I had a few complaints, but all in all I enjoyed the series. I wished they had toned down the gore a bit.

The Left wants to castigate the military, but Hollywood is still about busine$$ and they understand there will still always be a space in the public psyche for films that show heroism.

Traditionally that meant military guys going out and smashing her national (FOREIGN) enemies.

But The Left can’t stand that, since America Is Bad.

The way they get around it:

An inner core of the bad US military has BETRAYED the common troops with some kind of nefarious, dirty business deal; they have BURNED our own guys, these nasty top brass who are gnashing their teeth.

Therefore you have Jason Bourne, the Punisher, etc etc.

They don’t really chose the obvious enemy —Islam— as the recipient of punches and bullets.

Good action? Yes.

OUR politics..? Actually no.

We watched the whole thing, all episodes and loved it.

In particular the PTSD support group. I hate stolen valor types, and one got his due, even let his nasty body rot a while before found.

Interesting how Frank beat and stabbed to death the arch villain, then finally got him to quit twitching by mashing his eyes in. This is just to let people know it’s ultra violent.

I found it to be pro gun.

A sister show, Daredevil, his shot in all dark scenes. Difficult to watch if you have poor vision or trigger in mid-light.

A good old example was Archie Bunker:

The writers and producers were living in a bubble.

They fully intended for Archie to be the villian, to be hated by the whole country —Meathead would ride to the rescue, being loved by all.

Mainstreet USA turned that completely upside-down:

Archie was an admittedly irascible but guileless HERO who laid the truth out plainly. Archie was The Everyman.

Meanwhile Meathead was a feckless complainer who needed to cut his hair.

Hollywood and the USA are operating in parallel universes, smack dab next to each other while never able to actually connect.

In an unguarded moment Letterman admitted it, too; “We can’t compete with CAT VIDEOS....”

And they CAN’T.

The only good ‘Punisher” was the very first one with Dolf Lundgren.

"Needless to say, that guy blows himself up, later."

I stopped reading this thread after you gave up this spoiler. I'm only half way through the series.

That’ll teach you. Never read threads about shows or movies you haven’t finished yet. It’s in the internet bible.

The Punisher, overall, sucked. The Punisher in the Daredevil season 2 would have been awesome, but that’s not what we got. And the show was written by a bunch of leftwing goofballs who use the plight of veterans to further their own anti-American politics.. Piss on ‘em.

Yeah. I completely hated that part. Overall a decent show, but I absolutely hated that storyline. It was a bunch of crap.
