"stretched for over a kilometer (half a mile) across the border and into Israel"
Closer to 2/3 of a mile.

Psyops. When your enemy is uncertain on the effectiveness of their tactics.
Not taking immediate action on the tunnel construction makes enemy leaders uncertain.

“Hamas tunneling was also rolled up by Al-Sisi.”
The Egyptians destroyed Hamas tunnels on the Sinai-Gaza border by letting in the Mediterranean. The sound of muffled screams as the tunnels flooded must have been a real hoot.

"Hamas military wing issued a statement earlier Sunday threatening Israel with a 'heavy price.'
'Our battle for Jerusalem is going on round the clock, above and under the ground,' the statement said."
Persistent rodents, driven by a compulsion that they cannot understand or control. It's wondrous to see the more ostensible manifestation of the hatred increasingly affecting much of the world population and pulling it along.

Our U.S. Government has even more resources than the Israelis to detect and destroy tunnels. There’s no real need for couch potatoes and the enemy to know every detail about it.

If I'm not mistaken, they flooded some with sewage.

Hope the Israelis blew it up with a full work detail inside it.
That's exactly what I've heard they do. I'd not be surpised if they had equipment sensitive enough to pick up conversations inside the tunnels so they can time the collaspe for maximum effect.

Tunnels and bunkers a great to hide in, but once discovered they are indefensible death traps.

That’s how they’ve been described elsewhere - as forced child labor. They get no pay, are not valued beyond their ability to work, and are considered expendable. If any one ‘volunteered’ it was at their parents or orphanage behest to have one less mouth to feed ... there are increasing shortages as Hamas has pretty much run out of money to pay for anything, and its one time backers have pulled out.

The exact way Muslim Imams’ view the Muslim population in general. Expendable. That’s exactly why the leaders aren’t strapping bombs on themselves and blowing themselves up.
They clothe themselves in Muslim righteousness, and call for others to bear the brunt of their ideals. They don’t lead from the front. they demand that others die so that they can rule.

That is consistent with the Koran and Hathiths.

Imagine if the muzzies redirected their efforts and energies into improving their own lives instead of focusing on harming the Israelis.

If I'm not mistaken, they flooded some with sewage. Nice! I wish the Israeli government flooded the tunnel with sewage, sealed off the Israeli side and set off explosives, forcing the sewage to spew out the Gaza end of the tunnel. Better yet, use the tunnel as a permanent disposal pipe to get rid of Israel's sewage and pump it into Gaza. Two problems solved at once.
