Vice President Mike Pence says President Donald Trump is "actively considering when and how" to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a decision opposed by the Palestinians.
Pence was speaking at a New York City event Tuesday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the United Nations vote that led to the founding of Israel.
Trump in June backed off a campaign pledge on the embassy move as his Mideast envoy sought to reinvigorate peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

Have walked by that vacant lot dozens of time on the water to the taiellet. Hugh spot set aside great location.
Just do it already.
Who cares what the Fakestinians think. Move it!
Enough of this stupid pandering. This is not an issue that matters.

You bring up a very interesting point. My thoughts on the delay was that it's not a backtrack on a campaign promise, but more like the Israeli government never thought any US admin would actually want to move the embassy.
The Israeli government could have been playing like it supported the move, secure in knowing (thinking) that it would never happen. Now ooops, the dog caught the car, and the eager President Donald Trump gets the blame for slowing down.
But this idea about excavations... it does make we wonder what is in there that might cause a massive shockwave around the planet. The site has been sitting there with nothing to do, because of a perpetual political situation that has tied everyone's hands (or has made excuses for excuses).
Nothing is by accident. The antiquities destroyers have always fixated on the looting the Temple Mount. Hmmm.
This might end up being quite the Divine trump when the time is the time.
Just a thought.
