Censoring Climate Change
The New York Times ^ | November 22, 2017 | By TOLY RINBERG and ANDREW BERGMAN

The Trump administration is making it harder to find government information about climate change on the web. If you searched Google for the words “climate change” a little over six months ago, one of the first hits would have been the Environmental Protection Agency’s website.

But that was before April 28, when the agency began systematically dismantling its climate change website, which had survived Democratic and Republican administrations and was a leading source of information on a global problem that the president, as a candidate, labeled “a hoax.”

If you search those words today, a link to the E.P.A. site may not appear until the second or third search results page.

Since January, our organization, the Environmental Data & Governance Initiative, has monitored changes to tens of thousands of web pages across federal agencies. While we haven’t found examples of altered data, it is clear that the administration is intent on making it difficult or impossible to find information on its web pages about climate change.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Pruitt have made it clear that they want an America that prioritizes unfettered exploitation of fossil fuels, ignores the negative effects of greenhouse gas emissions and undermines global efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

A lot more is on the line if the Trump administration proceeds toward this vision and continues its assault on the government’s climate change information: access to scientific data, continuing data-collection efforts, the integrity of the digital infrastructure that stores important information and statistics about the climate and, ultimately, the scientific research programs that help us understand what’s coming next and contribute to the well-being of Americans and people everywhere.

Uh .... pulling down material from his own website is NOT censorship.

Not even close.

Or, the gub'mint not paying Google et al to promote government sites is just common sense.

If people are too stupid to look at government sites in general, and specific agency sites in particular, let them tilt with their own time and money.

Yes, because the first place anybody goes for information is the government...

OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Mr. Trump and Mr. Pruitt are making it clear that they want to return to responsible environmentalism based on sound science.

Mindlessly spending billions of dollars to prove that mankind is no good is pseudo science.

Cherry picking data to support the the unproven and probably false premise that carbon dioxide causes global warming does not follow the scientific method.

The Sun is the primary cause of climate change for Earth and all other planets in our solar system.

Looks like the Lefties received their marching orders from the UN to rev up the climate change hysteria train. Several articles popping up, including claims that we are making Beardies dumber due to CC.

It occurred to me the other day that the entire climate/warming/cooling topic is the epitome of CAPITALISM !

An invented "product" out of nothing, using only words to describe it's existence has generated gazillions of dollars of the last twenty years.

Who WOULDN'T want a piece of that action ?

Selling nothing for inflated prices that people are actually buying !

If only there was a 'rest of the internet' to promote the hoax!

If only!

The article is correct that there are no epa.gov links if you Google “climate change” until the fifth page. However, if you Google “climate change facts”, EPA shows up on the first page as the 9th link.
This article is the definition of making a mountain out of a molehill.

Good gravy what a hypocritical cry baby!

Google is pro climate alarmist big time, and it has been demonstrated they favor Leftwing causes in their search results. So the results are likely already biased in favor of the garbage this guy peddles anyway. Given this advantage it takes some kind of obscene nerve to complain that the Federal government doesn't tip the scales in his favor even more...in the wake of people not buying his line of B.S. and electing somebody who doesn't buy it either.

I just Googled “climate change.”

The first search page has a link to Trump's EPA web page, which is currently being “updated.’

The current EPA web page actually provides a link to Obama’s last EPA page, which reports nothing but gloom, doom, and federal lawsuits.

Of the first eleven links on “climate change,” three go to NASA, three go to the New York Times, and three go to The Guardian, which is a British Socialist newspaper.
