That's known as "White Coat Syndrome."

Is that related to "Cute Nurse Syndrome?

Move the goalposts, sell more prescription meds.

Stock in Lisinopril should now soar. Funny how such "science" works to enrich big pharma.

Yeah...I am not sure if basing your healthcare on people who normally did not live past 40 is a good idea. But, if you want to throw caution to the wind...feel free.

40 years is nonsense.

Psalm 90:10 The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,

Most didn’t make it that long till something like high blood pressure could get them.

Ever notice how long Adam and his first 10 generations of descendants lived?

That's exactly right. The ultimate objective is to have 100% of the population diagnosed with some form of malady that requires expensive medical intervention.

And many times, the meds will damage your kidneys...you get to go on dialysis!

As an amateur engineer and a former pilot, I am appealed that doctors make major decisions based on ONE data point.

After having my triple-bypass I took my BP several times each day, before & after eating, exercise, hot showers, etc. I did this for two or three weeks then entered all readings into a spreadsheet. I then sorted the resultant table according to the various parameters, printing out a graph each time.

When I took these to my cardiologist he said, “Oh, i don’t need those.”

Fast forward 12 years & three stents later. Made a new set BP measurements and graphs and took them to a new cardiologist. He asked if he could have them for a few minutes. I replied, “They’re yours to keep.” He said, “I want to take these down the hall to show to my colleagues. We’ve never had a patient do this!”

After he finished my follow-up heart cath he told me, “Your stents are clean as a whistle and your three grafts look like they were done last month.”

Both this cardiologist and the one who did my stents in 2010 at the VA hospital in Baltimore asked me who did my bypasses. When I replied, “Dr. Lucky at the VA hospital in Asheville, NC.” both of these doctors replied, “Oh, he does NICE work!”

Thank you, Dr. Lucky, for an additional 14 & 1/2 years, so far!

I recommend taking your BP monitor in with you when you see the doc and check it against what the doc reads. It also might be worth while to request a larger cuff at the doctor’s office.

...

Good advice. I’ve done that. The cuff I use at home agrees with the ones in the doctor’s offices.

My doctor takes my blood pressure and then takes it again.
I don’t fit the medical community models.
My pulse rate ranges from 40 to 50 beats per minute and my blood pressure runs from 75/45 up to 90/55 if I’ve been working hard.
Forget the treadmill test. the highest I’ve ever gotten on a treadmill was 95/60 with a pulse rate of 60.
Since the doc doesn’t understand why my physiology is so different, he still prescribes the standard set of pills, because I did have a heart attack 28 years ago.

Bingo!

Avoid doctors ( and cops and lawyers and mothers-in-law) as much as practicable. Eat well, work hard, de-stress and Praise God Almighty for your blessings.

If you really want to mess with the blood pressure readings, raise you non-tested arm straight up. It will add 40 to 50 to all the readings.

White coat syndrome. I’ve had it since my early teen years. Since Obamacare I have had to switch doctor’s and I don’t think the new one believes me. I’m like doc if my blood pressure was normally this high I would have been dead years ago. Hate going to the doctor as I can’t stop the butterflies.

Bad for us older truck drivers trying to keep our licenses just to make a living.
This is real bad.
