Trump is elected and High Blood Pressure increases by 14% and now half of us have High Blood Pressure. Damn.

Does AP ever mention who is setting these new guidelines and who changed the yardstick?

Move the goalposts, sell more prescription meds.

For Big Pharma it all kinda works for them.

If you are getting regular check ups and blood work, blood pressure is but one of several metrics. If you are cruising along fine, and then all of a sudden there is a change—that is a signal.

As single metric is never a good reason to do much. You have to understand how the machines works and all of the parts that go into it.

No one in the bible cared about their blood pressure.

They reccomend getting your BP measured once a year?

If you are only getting checked once a year, a salut!

It seems that everywhere I go, I am getting my BP taken.

My blood pressure is usually much higher in the doctor’s office, sometimes getting over 160. At home it’s routinely between 100 and 110. If I took the same medication to get my blood pressure down in the doctor’s office that I used to take, I wouldn’t be able to function. My cardiologist isn’t concerned unless it gets over 150 in the office. Additionally, most of the time the blood pressure reading isn’t taken correctly. For instance, you should get a few minutes to relax, and the arm should be horizontal. It’s rare that both are done.

Needless to say, I think these new guidelines are baloney and being done for nefarious reasons.

A “journal” titled “Hypertension” finds that blood pressure needs to be lowered? I am shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

That would be like “Smoking Today” finding that recreational tobacco smoking was good for you!

Will this “agenda science” never stop?

Yeah...I am not sure if basing your healthcare on people who normally did not live past 40 is a good idea.

But, if you want to throw caution to the wind...feel free.

That's exactly right. The ultimate objective is to have 100% of the population diagnosed with some form of malady that requires expensive medical intervention.

This is the inevitable consequence of having an economy built on smoke and mirrors where fewer and fewer people work in productive industries. When you don't have enough customers to stay in business, just create them through legislation and regulation.

“But that is prone to error, and many places now use automated devices.”

Actually, the automated ones give more high readings. I’ve never met a doctor who trusted the machine over a manual reading.

And honestly, I think defining it downward is stupid. No one gets out of here alive...

Like I told the doctor on my last visit, “If I have to give up pizza, bacon and beer, I might as well be dead now!”

I have the same problem. I have the exact same machine at my house as the doctor has. I usually read 120 to 125 over 80 to 85. which I check daily twice a day. When I go to the doctors once a year it is through the roof. I don’t get it.
