One could also say that the firearms laws that existed at the time of incidents like Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989 or Dunblane in Scotland and Port Arthur both in 1996 should have prevented them as well, but lawmakers do like flapping their mouths and playing gesture politics.
The answer is that Laws don’t stop shooters. People stop shooters. As a conceal and carry license holder, I wear my pistol everywhere that I can legally carry. Had I been in the church, chances are that I could have interrupted his mission (even if I somehow missed). However, he would not have preceded with ‘his’ plan. I also carry into Walmart, theaters, etc., because that is where there will be attacks. If these shooters had to be concerned with armed victims, they might not be so bold..perhaps the solution in Chicago would be to arm everyone who can pass a conceal and carry program.
