Dressing children up as Disney's Moana this Halloween is racist, according to one parenting blogger.
While parents should also think twice about letting their brood dress up as Elsa from Frozen because her character promotes 'white beauty'.
Writing in her popular blog Raising Race Conscious Children, parent blogger activist Sachi Feris urged parents not to dress their children up as characters from backgrounds different to their own as it is 'cultural appropriation.'
Although many would see the strong-minded Moana as a perfect role model for their child, Feris said it's racially insensitive and risks parodying Polynesian culture.
Describing her own discussions with her five-year-old daughter, Feris said: 'Moana is based on real history and a real group of people.
'If we are going to dress up a real person, we have to make sure we are doing it in a way that is respectful. Otherwise, it is like we are making fun of someone else's culture.'
The parent, from Brooklyn, New York, revealed that after her discussion about 'cultural appropriation' with her daughter, the young girl decided to go as Mickey Mouse instead.
The blog has attracted almost 100,000 shares on social media and attracted a string responses from other bloggers since being published.

Good grief, I had Elsas of every ethnicity come trick or treating the last several years.
I even had some little mermaids in the past. Should I have lectured their parents on culturally appropriation/insensitivity to fish?
I think I said to one young Mother,jokingly, something about cultural appropriation when her Pocahantas came to the door.I was so happy to be met with a blank stare, and a “What’s that?”
I’m assuming that a black boy dressing up as Elsa is perfectly OK as a celebration of diversity.

Let kids be kids. The chronological ‘adults’ in the world clearly don’t have their heads on straight, so let the little ones have fun and ignore the craziness while they still can.

It began with the Philosophers and stair stepped down through Art, Music, General Culture and into Theology. Now it is just a mess of insanity and chaos with only brutality and bullying as a force as we saw yesterday in the madness of Washington D.C. Fewer and fewer of us believe in the “God who is there,” and we will continue with the hope for His protection of his children who still exist and function on this earth. It is so sad that there are those whose whole existence is based on trying to divide and conquer.

Their lamentations would be a bit more valid if they would quit appropriating white culture, like cars, electricity, phones, indoor plumbing, etc. All they are doing now is to piss off everyone around them by acting like spoiled, rotten, entitled, obnoxious little snowflakes.
